Somehow I Manage

AO: Gladiator

When: 03/02/2023

QIC: Speedo

PAX (15): Cheneral, Common Law, defcon2, Donor, DREAMER, Judy, Manchester, Moonshine, RaspberryPi, Spandex, Stroller, TheBigShort, vertigo, Brownie

Preamble:

Preblast went out with a map of ERP showing 8 stops with the question “how many can we do?”  Of course the only response (other than some solid HCs) was “that’s what she said” so we were all left guessing (YHC included).

We were greeted by the increasingly normal view of Ironhead coming in after the pre-run, along with 3 other pre-runners.  Our barista had skillfully parked his baristamobile under the covered area by the rec center.

Thankfully the rain was holding off and I sensed that even if it did rain, we would somehow manage to survive.  This BB is evidence of at least my survival.

Warm-O-Rama:

Mosey to the back side of the rec center for:

  • Weedpickers x10 IC
  • Hillbillies x10 IC
  • SSH x10 IC
  • WGS OYO
  • Hangovers aka ham hangers

Somewhere along the way Judy rolled in and acted all cool and like he was on time.  No one wanted to embarrass or harass him so we just pretended like he had been there the whole time.

The Thang:

Mosey to the back hill where we spent a LOT of time on Tuesday.

Keeping it simple today…straight from my spreadsheet…

Joe Derk Joe Hendricks with Derkins. Crawl Bear up the back hill and do a Derkin every five steps
Paula Abdul Run two curb cuts and do 5 burpees, then run back one curb cut and do 20 monkey humpers, repeat
Calf Raises 50 OYO
Squat Potato Circle up in squat position.  Start passing sandbag.  Add ruck partway through
No Surrender Fire Plank Circle up in high plank.  First PAX does 5 no surrenders then all go down to a low plank.  Repeat with next PAX then back to high plank…repeat
Up down overs On end line start running.  On Q yelling ‘down’ drop, roll over and get back up.  Fun way to hide field nuggets in secret places
WMD Crawl Bear crawl 5 steps, 5 Wide merkins, 10 steps, 5 merkins, 10 steps, 5 diamonds, repeat
Butkus Did this one wrong but it was basically a rapid step-up onto the curb for a couple of minutes.
Hundreds On your 6. legs straight and at a 45 deg angle off the ground. head and shoulders off ground. arms straight and down by your side with palms facing ground. do quick 6 inch pulses with arms/hands until you reach 100.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Thanks for following my lead this morning.  I learn something every time I Q and today was no exception.  We as leaders can always be more clear, plan better, push harder, etc.  My goal today was to keep moving and do a few new things.  Mission accomplished in my book.  If you feel differently then you were doing the Joe Derks all wrong :).
