PAX (13): Callahan, Cam's, Chapter 11, DeLorean, Ha-ha, HoseHead, Knight Rider, Nacho Libre, Orvis, Pepper, Salt, Stu, Venus_Norseman

Preamble:

As Ha-Ha said, you decide the night before if you’re going to post or not. The gloom was looking extra gloomy with a forecast of 40 degrees and raining. But 13 PAX decided the night before that they were going to post! Nice work men. I decided to reward their commitment by creating a BD that would mostly keep them dry.

Warm-O-Rama:

Simple warm up:

  • SSH
  • Weed Pickers
  • Little Baby Arm Circles on your own

No mosey as we didn’t stray to far from the pavillion, and would be doing plenty of running.

The Thang:

As the name implied, we were going to be doing a lot of core work centered around the good old plank move. Seeing as I am fond of the number 11, we did so by doing “11’s” down to the playground pavilion and back.

First 11 – “Twinkle Taps” at the top (plank position, keep your legs straight and touch your toes out to the side. One leg at a time, Alpha count) and merkins at the bottom. 10 twinkle tap, run down, 1 merkin, run back up, 9 twinkle taps… etc.

We took a break and paired up. One partner took a lap around the parking lot loop, while the other held a diamond plank in the pavilion.

Once each PAX had the chance to take a lap, we went back into our next “11” – this time with “E2Planks” at the top, and Derkins at the bottom. E2Plank” is my made up name for an exercise a friend taught me. Basically in the plank position, touch your right elbow to your left knee, then vice versa. Alpha count. We cut off this 11 a little early so we could mosey out to the big parking lot for a round of n”Plank Compass” – we had to at least get a little soggy this morning. New to the Norseman (as far as I know), the Plank Compass as defined by the exicon is:

“From plank position, Q calls out direction such as 90 degrees right or 180 degrees left. Pax rotates accordingly, walking hand over hand to the location designated by the Q (staying in plank), with toes acting as the center of the compass (stationary), and hands and head moving around the arc of the circle. Mix in Merkins at each stop. Do as many rotations as you like.”

After much mumblechatter, the PAX mosey’d back to the Pavilion with 5 minutes to spare for some Mary.

COT:

Wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to Q today as my M is expecting our 3rd child any day now. Prayers for a safe delivery for both Mom and Baby. Thanks to Pepper who was willing to take the Q in case I was out.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

When you see a weather forecast like we had this morning, you think, “No way I am doing that.” But then you end up posting, only because you know the other PAX will post, and you learn that you can handle far more than you think you can handle. It’s a good reminder and one of the things that is great about F3. The F3 creed says that we “leave no man how you found him” – and this is one way it happens. I know that I am more disciplined and mentally tougher because of F3.
