Around The Horn

AO: The Hooch

When: 04/24/2023

QIC: McCracken

PAX (12): Birdie, Flo, HIPPA, Maguire, Mid-riff, Pigtails, Popper (Dan Richard), Saint2O, Scrooge, Sunshine, TURK

Preamble:

Been a little while since my last Q but it felt good to lead today.  Preamble was given and twelve PAX joined in the gloom for some running with pain stations amid the soothing and soulful tunes of Led Zeppelin.

Warm-O-Rama:

PAX followed along for some SSH, Weedpickers, Windmills, Moroccan Night Clubs and Michael Phelps followed by a short Mosey around the parking lot ending at the covered drive under, which was occupied by our resident 5:30 am chain smoker, Larry the lunger.  He was asked to move and kindly acquiesced.

The Thang:

Stations were set up in baseball terms (Home, 1st, 2nd, 3rd) around the parking lot that had pain stations at each.  The PAX were not able to advance to an additional base without returning to home plate, redoing those exercises, and running the bases from there.  Pain stations included:

Home:

Buy-in: 5 Burpees
15 Tempo Merkins
20 Monkey Humpers
25 second B2W hold

1st base:

15 BBSU
20 Dips
25 second plank

2nd base:

15 Ranger Merkins
20 Squats
25 Flutter Kicks

3rd base:

15 Burpees
20 Jump Squats
25 of something else…

The PAX completed one full round and those with extra time started another lap around the bases ending back under the covered drive for some Merry to end our time.

COT:

Prayers offered up for end of year craziness for our families, especially the students, as well as for Turk’s FIL’s health and hopeful recovery.

Several announcements made including an upcoming convergence as well as a potential brew ruck in the works.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

It’s been a little while since taking the helm last and I’ve felt convicted to do it more – be more active with contributing rather than consuming.  I think this is probably a good reminder in life as we can get rather complacent in our lives.  A little adversity and suffering brings us closer to each other and to God – maybe that is what it means to truly be ‘in the gloom’ with each other.  Thankful everyday for these men and for the ability to strengthen our minds, bodies and spirit together.
