Preamble:

After quite the hiatus from one of my favorite AO’s (because of running), I saw an opening on the Q sheet and decided to make a return. I showed up to hear of 3 pre runners and 2 pre-ruckers and see some faces from Cherokee (Babyface and Peashooter), Cumming (Swiper), and Down Range (Big Dif from Charleston). Awesome crowd for a welcome back session and what better way to return than in a tank top and shorts when the weather was in the low 30’s with a brutal wind. Time to get uncomfortable!

Warm-O-Rama:

We started running and did a quick stop for a few warm up exercises:

The Thang:

Making our way through the Cross Country trails (carefully) to BFH, we stopped twice and did 10 burpees each time OYO. After getting lost in the woods for a second, we maybe our way to BFH (big freaking hill) for Thang 1.

Thang 1: DORA at BFH (big freaking hill)

Partner up and sharing the count. One partner exercises while the other runs up and down BFH. 100 Big Boys, 200 Mercans, 300 Squats.

 

Thang 2: stadium of death: Made our way through the woods and to the stadium we go. I can never let a good stadium go to waste, so we get ready for my stadium of death. 3 rounds, waiting on the 6 at the end of each round. Treated with a beautiful sunrise to start the stadium. 

Round 1:

  • 2 times up and down the stadium steps normal then do the following:
  • 25 box jumps
  • 25 flutter kicks
  • 25 dips
  • 25 V ups

Low plank for the 6, so we start each round together.

Round 2:

  • 2 times up and down the stadium steps skipping a step each time then do the following
  • 25 sumo squats
  • 15 Bonnie Blares (Alpha)
  • 25 Carolina Dry Docks
  • 25 gas pumpers

Round 3:

  • 2 times up and down the stadium steps bunny hopping then do the following
  • 25 Monkey humpers
  • 15 J Los (Alpha)
  • 25 derkins
  • 25 leg lifts (abs)

Getting close on time, so we start heading back towards the flag. Wait, we still have 5 minutes left!!

Thang 3 – Donkey Dans for the Win

I absolutely loathe Donkey Dans, so time to get uncomfortable. To the wall at Northwestern for Donkey dans. 1 Mercan to 3 donkey kicks. We went until we got to 5 Mercans and 15 donkeys, but oh wait we had 45 second left and got to do 6 and 18!

Upcoming relay race in Cherokee put together by Babyface, plus Bug Diff and Babyface are putting together a 1 day growruck event in Charleston. Also, hillseeker coming up in March!

praises for Turkey’s wife on her positive health progression, and continue prayers for her moving forward. Prayers for the family and friends of Cardinal, our fallen brother, and thankful for our community of men supporting them in a time of need.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

This really is a special group of men and a special AO. They make me better and stronger, and are there to pick me up when needed. Coming back after a hiatus was exactly what I needed and I am so thankful I got to spend my Saturday morning in the gloom with these men! 9 of the 12 headed to coffee after.
