YHC has been trying to put more effort into dreaming up creative workouts and noticed that we just entered into the famed Shark Week on Discovery channel that some people go crazy about and I just don’t get. Nonetheless, it seemed like a good theme to go with for a new routine so I went with it and found a way to incorporate some lesser used entries from the exicon. 10 PAX descended on the Creek again for what’s starting to become a more regular occurrence and a real privilege to be a part of. If this keeps up, we’re going to need a bigger boat indeed…
Warm-Up:
Mosey down to the bottom of Killamanjaro with some high-knees, butt-kickers, and cariocas mixed in for good measure. Some mumble chatter about the park maintenance crew finding copperheads in our main coupon pile lately…good to know for future safety.
- SSH x 16 IC
- Good Mornings x 12 IC
- Chinooks x 12 IC
- Copperhead Squats x 12 IC
- Bernie Sanders up to the top of Killamanjaro to finish getting the blood pumping and mosey over to the top turf field
The Thang:
Line up at the far end of the field for a shark week inspired routine with each exercise incrementing by 10 with 10 seal crawl paces in between each. Both sides/arms/legs count as one where applicable.
- Surfees x 10
- Hand release merkins x 20
- American Hammer x 30
- Rockette Hillbillies x 40
- Knee kicks x 50
- Boryshnikov Squats x 60
- Alternating shoulder taps x 70
- Imperial walkers x 80
- Travoltas x 90
- Ssh x 100 (because it seemed weird to end at 90)
Prisoner indian run back down to the large coupon pile (n.k.a. the snake pit?) to grab a larger-than-you-normally-would rock for 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 reps of curls, shoulder presses, and skull crushers. Next, we headed back to the flag with a stop along the way to raccoon crawl the railing along the way.
Back in time for a short round of mary with a few PAX leading the way:
- The Body – Flutter Kicks x 20 IC
- McDuff – LCD, er LBC x 15 IC : )
- Swiper – Freddy Mercuries x 20 IC
COT:
Prayers for Body’s mom’s husband, who wound-up in the hospital last night with heart failure. Also for Swiper’s wife who is dealing with back pain and seeking treatment and recovery that doesn’t involve loads of pain meds. 2nd F at Cherry Street Brewing next Tuesday and also tonight at Curahee in downtown Alpharetta.
NMM:
What an awesome group of men to be involved with and a real privilege to lead. I’m continually amazed by the caliber of HIM I encounter not only at Big Creek but everywhere else I post.
3 PAX for coffeteria at Starbucks after where we bumped into Sweeper, who claimed to be planning to make a return soon. Maybe he’ll be back for another beat down in his socks!
