They say learning from your mistakes is a necessary step towards greatness. YHC was bound and determined to improve upon last month’s VQ. Step 1: Avoid careening into a ditch. Check. Step 2: give clear instructions. Eh…they figured it out. Step 3: Don’t over think the workout. So today we went back to basics:
Warm-o-Rama:
12 count of Windmills, Cotton pickers, and Merkins, then moseyed up to the track.
The Thang I:
Dora showed up for the first exercise. First set: 100 Merkins, 200 BBS, 300 Lunges (1 count per leg). Partner 2 ran across the field to the other side of the track and back. Flapjack.
Max # of Merkins allowed per round was 25, with penalty burpees for going too fast. Unfortunately the reasoning for this never left in my interior monologue, so what seemed like a good idea to keep the group together turned into…um…Mayhem. Gotta leave room for improvement!
The Thang II:
After a considerable amount of running, I could tell the PAX needed a breather, so it was time for a visit from Dora’s “Estranged and Despised” sister: Lazy Dora. No running, more grunting.
First set: P1 executes a Mucho Chesto, P2 planks. Switch.
Second Set: P1 performs 20 squats while the other partner Air Chairs. Rotate until the team hits 200.
3rd Set: 25 LBCs for Partner 1, with Partner 2 holding feet 6 inches off the ground. The plan was to rotate up to 300. Unfortunately at this point we were running short on time, so we had to cut it short at 200 and head back to the flag.
No time for Mary.
