Waking up this morning for ruck (6 for Alpha Ruck) and beatdown, I had no idea YHC will be called to action. We had 15 PAX for the beatdown and no Q and so I found myself stepping up for my impromptu VQ.
Warm up
We moseyed around the parking lot and circled up for Weed picker X10 and Hillbilly X12. Yep, that’s it. Could have should have done more, but my mind was locked on something else.
The Thang
We moseyed to the benches and I realized we’re too many and the benches are too few, but no worries – there are enough terraces to spare (a few minutes later I realized the tactical error). We partnered up for:
Dora
- 100 Box Jumps
- 200 Step-Ups
- 300 dips
During the jumps the partner did Balls to the Wall, during the step-ups the partner went aside for 5 burpees (except for Foghorn who was doing 10!) and for during the dips – ABCs till you drop. It didn’t take long to realize – WOW those terraces are high.
From there we moseyed to the stone pile, one of my favorite parts of a beatdown.

- Curls X20
- Shoulder presses X20
- Skull crushers X20
- Rows X20
- Run to the end of the field and back.
Rinse and repeat for the total of 3 sets.
I liked the view of the hill and decided we should all get more familiar with it. We lined up for:

Squats at the bottom of the hill counting up and Merkins at the top of the hill counting down.
With 15 minutes to spare, my mind went blank but the PAX encourages me to finish the Q strong. We went back up to the soccer field and inspiration struck. Or maybe it was just the lack of oxygen. I called:
Lap around the field
- Bear crawl to the middle of the field
- Lunges to the end
- run on the short side
- Repeat for the way back

We circled up for a Burpee circle, bunny hoping till each PAX in turn called down.
I handed the MARY to Boomer who called for Buzz saw X15, Scrooge – American Hammer X15 and Cookie who finished with 10 Windshield wipers.
Now I don’t have any more excuses and expect to sign up for Qs. I can hear the Widow Maker calling.
