Warm-Up: Mosey around the parking lot and circle up for 20SSH, 10 Imperial Walkers and 10 Merkins.
The THANG: into the darkness of the track dividing into 2 groups of 11. One group started at the 0 and the other at the 200 meter line. Each group advanced AMRAP around the track completing the following exercises on the following track marks:
0: 10 Sprawling Burpees
50: 20 Prisoner Squat Jumps
100: 30 Switch Jump Lunges
200: 10 Clapping Merkins
250: 20 Tuck Jumps
300: 30 Big Boy Mountain Climbers
Yours truly endured criticism (humiliating ridicule) due to the early morning explanation on multiple occasions, but we pushed through to burn up on this punishing HIIT. As you might suspect, Cricket with his bouncy legs completed three full rounds of exercises within 20 minutes. We moseyed to the 0 meter start line and formed 2 lines of 11 standing opposite each other for the Merkin Challenge. One group completed 1 Merkin while the second group held a Plank. Then the second group did 2 Merkins and the first group held the Plank. We parlayed back and forth adding a push up each time. Upon reaching the breaking point we held an air chair until the last man – none other than BANJO completed his 22nd! (Is it really because of the shorter arms???)
Proceeding to the sideline of the football field remaining in our two groups of 11, one group performed GASSERS while his “partner” from the other group held a Plank alternating to Al Gore. Everyone completed 2 gassers (running back and forth twice across the width of the football field).
Then we jumped into a long tailed Indian run for 1 lap and back to THE FLAG for some quick Mary: 27 flutter kicks and 60 second 6 inches (not to be confused by more planking!!!! – thanks Bloodhound – the gassers went to my head).
COT:
- continued prayers for Bloodhound’s recovery and daughter’s recovery too.
- Thankful hearts for many blessings and the Christmas season.
Men – remember that the Christmas season is about Christ our Savior coming to earth and the real JOY that brings us. Conversely, it is also the season where we all are prone to a higher likelihood of depression and suicide attempts. There is more stress placed upon us, our wives, family and friends. The dark gloom of unrealistic expectations and excessive self-reflection can set us all off down a difficult spiral of despair. Please be on the look out for signs in your loved ones as well as in yourself. Reach out, brothers for yourselves or for another hurting and downcast fellow. We need each other to steady ourselves and point us back to hope in Christ.
