Preamble:

After the excitement of the Wartowne Decathlon a couple weeks ago in Cherokee, YHC was way too eager to create a Widowmaker version highlighting the best feature of this AO. Grabbed the next slot on the Q sheet and got to work on the plans.

Against Q’s better judgment, the call for pre-runners or pre-ruckers (#MWGA) went out and Saint2O talked Q into a trip to power lines hill. Arrived at 0613 after placing the Board of Pain at the bottom of the hill. Animal was there, where was Saint2O? YHC and Animal knocked out 4+ on the pre-run, and shortly after it was 0700.

No FNGs, so issued a disclaimer and then it was time to move.

Warm-O-Rama:

Run straight to the top of the Widowmaker. Circle up with high knees for the 6, then 3 surprise burpees as a tribute to Delorean. Quick sets of weedpickers and toy soldiers, 3 more surprise burpees, then to the bottom of the hill.

The Thang:

It was a pleasure to unveil the BoP for the Widowmaker Decathlon:

  1. 100 monkey humpers, run to the top of the Widowmaker and back
  2. Bear crawl width of field and back
  3. 100 squats, run to the top of the Widowmaker and back
  4. Bernie up the Widowmaker, run back
  5. 100 LBCs, run to the top of the Widowmaker and directly into event 6
  6. Run the full Webb Bridge loop (1.2 miles)
  7. Broad jump width of field and back
  8. 100 mercans, run to the top of the Widowmaker and back
  9. Run the lower loop
  10. 50 burpees, run to the top

This was a burner. The full loop created too much separation/confusion and it was a struggle to get everyone back together before we headed back to the flag.

YHC got to the burpees at about 0748 and directed any PAX not on the loop to hold there. After a couple minutes, we were short 4 PAX. As we started back to the flag, some PAX hung back to pick up Delorean and Dreamer. As we turned the corner up the hill, we found Cox and Funyun. All headed up the hill together, then the gazelles went back for the 6. Once we were all at the top, easy mosey back to the flag with about 30 seconds to spare. Worked in some gas pumpers and that was it.

COT:

  • Feathers and M investment property
  • Boomer’s nieces visiting
  • Mater’s trip to Japan

Naked-Man Moleskin:

As I mentioned, I was very excited for this one. It was certainly a worthy challenge! However, this one needs some more work in the beatdown laboratory. The run intervals were a bit too long and ended up separating the PAX, not enough time for encouragement and mumblechatter. We were too close to leaving a man behind today. Looking forward to the reboot!
