With a long weekend in VT behind him, YHC started Q-planning late in the day on Monday with only the most cursory of dark surveys as guidance. Of course, that meant a thorough study of Google Maps to search for challenging topology and useful obstacles. Running loop? Check. Steep hill? Check. Playground? Check. With all of the core components established, YHC could sleep a little more comfortably knowing that he could properly live up to expectations and drop the hammer one way or another.
Warm-Up:
As 0530 drew near and no sign of Chelsea or TP drifting in at the last minute, we were off. Slow mosey around the perimeter loop and climb to the upper parking lot for some warm-up. After a short wait for the six, continue with the following:
- Hillbillys
- Weed-Pickers
- Abe Vigodas
- Mountain Climbers
The Thang:
Mosey down the stairs and gather up at the bottom and get a measure of the PAX with some 4 corners, consisting of the following:
- 10 Burpees, run to flag
- 10 Burpees, 20 Squats, run to trail intersection
- 10 Burpees, 20 Squats, 30 Merkins, run to far corner of trail loop
- 10 Burpees, 20 Squats, 30 Merkins, 40 LBC’s, run to start and do Mary for the six
Big-boy Situps and a short mosey back to pick up the six before moving on the next round. YHC could tell that the mosey pace was pushing the PAX, so we’d endeavor to keep everyone together going forward.
Short mosey over to Galaxy’s version of Malbec Mountain for some simple sevens – Jump Squats at the bottom, and Derkins (off the curb) at the top. YHC instructed himself and Turbine to Bernie Sanders the hill to keep all PAX together (thank you sir, may I have another). Once completed, air-chair for the six.
As the six finished up, time for another short mosey to the playground. While waiting for the six to roll in again (becoming a theme), announce to PAX that this would be a non-mosey exercise. Despite that welcome news, some good mumble-chatter when it was disclosed that a circuit (including Pull-Ups) would replace the mosey. Five rounds of the following:
- 10 Pull-Ups
- 10 Box Jumps
- 20 Derkins
- 30 Monkey Humpers
Some quick LBC’s for the six (Turbine!), then mosey back to the flag where Q called out PAX for a final round of Mary consisting of:
- Flutter Kicks
- Freddie Mercury
- American Hammer
- SSH’s
COT:
As our FNG announced his Pittsburgh roots, it became immediately obvious to YHC that a Filthadelpia (sp) theme was a must for his F3 handle. After some brief brainstorming, YHC recalled that the Flyers recently announced a haphazardly designed mascot named “Gritty” that was instantly ridiculed on social media. Blank stares from the PAX told YHC all he needed to know about their knowledge of hockey, and simply reinforced Q’s choice as a destined one. For those unfamiliar with Gritty (link), he looks a lot Animal from “The Muppet Show,” if Animal gained some weight and was hooked on crystal meth. As it is said, let it be done.
- Welcome Gritty, our new FNG
- Prayers for traveling PAX (Tweaker?).
- F3 Alpha convergence coming up on 10/20 at Rubicon (Wills Park)
AFLAC out.
