When Beauty and I pulled into the parking lot at about 5:05, all we saw was just a few Pax loitering in the gloom. My first thought was, where is everyone?! Then, a few minutes later the Pax came rushing in and we started off with 13. After a short mosey to the pavilion to begin the warmup, Sox and Viking came running in for a total Pax of 15 for this morning’s beatdown!!!

The Thang:
After the warmup, the Pax moseyed back to the parking lot where we started and collected coupons out of the back of my car. Yep, another cinder block beatdown! After gathering the coupons, we headed down the hill to the soccer field for some suicides! There were a total of 9 cinder blocks, so some of us paired up during the suicides to make adjustments.
Today is 9/11, so this beatdown incorporated reps of 9 and 11.
Man-Maker Suicides: Line up at the baseline of the soccer field with a cinder block. Carry cinder block to the penalty box and do 9 man-makers. Run back to baseline leaving cinder block. Run back to the cinder block and carry it to midfield and perform 11 man-makers. Leave cinder block and run back to baseline. Run back to the cinder block and carry it to the far penalty box and perform 9 man-makers. Run back to baseline. Run back to the cinder block and carry it to the far baseline and perform 11 man-makers. Carry cinder block all the way back to the starting baseline.
I think Sox really liked this format because he was really killing it on the run! Go, Sox!!

Circle of Fire: After finishing up three rounds of suicides, the Pax headed to center field to circle up. Sox began the exercises by calling out burpees, and so began the process of completing 15 different exercises. We finished up just in time to collect our coupons and head back to the flag. We circled up with 2 minutes left for some additional Mary. DC2 punished is with a final 20 count of American Hammers.
COT: There was some talk about 9/11 and Sox brought forward a memorial run at Newtown Park, called 9/11 Heroes Run. The run is this Saturday.
DC2 shared with us his experience at a men’s retreat he attended last weekend. He shared with us one takeaway he had regarding masculinity. Instead of being a “beefcake,” real masculinity requires tenderness to one another. Thanks for sharing, DC2!
