Mystery Q for Wreckicon Finale

AO: The Rubicon

When: 08/30/2018

QIC: AFLAC

PAX (): Bo Knows, Pellets, Zima, Trebek, Devito, Grease Monkey, Ha-ha, Special K, Pit Stop, Miller Time, Waders, Cookie, Double D, Lumberg, Nacho Libre, Virginia Slim, Zohan, Kruger, AFLAC, Sprocket

I’m not sure what Bear was thinking, but signing up to Q just a week or so after completing a herculean century isn’t exactly my concept of a good idea.  So, when he reached out to the bullpen this week looking for an assist, it didn’t come as a surprise.  YHC was hoping some of the Wreck PAX would step up to the moment, but once Miller Time started talking a little smack doubting our ability to close the month out, YHC wasn’t going to let a little Knoll Woods beatdown (Bronco’s way of stealing thunder) get in the way helping a brother out with a special Q.

I should mention that Zima correctly sensed a great disturbance in the force as YHC had some grand plans that included coupons, rope, and hills.  Alas, logistics and time got the better of him so it seemed prudent to plan a mystery Q with his Wreck brothers instead and file Operation Thunderdome for future use.

The Wreck Boys got up early to stage a few easter eggs before planting the flag around 0520.  It wasn’t long before PAX started rolling in, including a rag-tag contingent AKA the Ford mafia doing their best guns-out impression.   Grease Monkey keeps talking about starting a competing cut-off mafia, but I seem to recall Rusty making some comment about a Mopar analog fitting like a nightgown.  I digress.

Warm-Up:

Seeing as the Wreck takeover was his idea, it was only appropriate to pitch it to Grease Monkey for the warm-up, who led PAX on a short mosey and circled everyone up for the following:

  • Side Straddle Hops
  • Mountain Climbers
  • Windmills
  • Weed Pickers

The Thang:

Stage 1:  Sprocket (with his plate carrier) led PAX on an extended mosey throughout the park.  Side-note:  YHC heard something about Pit Stop going in the wrong direction, which made no sense at the time – in hindsight, I now understand his handle.  A couple of pauses for the six with Plank Jacks, Burpees and other PAX-gathering exercises before heading up Wills Rd for the next stage.

As we entered the parking lot, Miller Time gave his best Obi-Wan impression (“that’s no moon…”) at the sight of Slim’s truck brimming with coupons.  Mumble chatter was abundant throughout the PAX at this point.

Stage 2:  Slim led PAX on some sets of 25 with coupons, including the following:

  • 25 Bent-over Rows
  • 25 Squat Thrusters
  • 25 Merkins (on coupon)
  • 25 Merkins (right hand on coupon)
  • 25 Merkins (left hand on coupon)
  • 25 Derkins (toes on coupon)

YHC admittedly shorted Slim on time to keep things on schedule, but he made the most of it by leading PAX on an extended coupon push up the parking lot.  Grease Monkey led the way with the General Lee (he never lets Luke have a turn at the wheel).  After gathering the six and stacking the coupons, it was time for the next stage.

Stage 3:  With YHC up to bat, it was time to lead PAX along a dark route to the playground area where we’d spend 10 minutes alternating the following:

  • 20 Donkey Kicks (against the wall)
  • Run to playground
  • 10 Pull-Ups
  • Run back to wall
  • Rinse/repeat until Q calls it

As the clock hit 0600, it was time for the final stage.

Stage 4:  Double D closed things out by leading PAX on an extended, circuitous mosey back to the flag with stops for the following:

  • 20 Big-Boy situps
  • 20 LBC’s
  • 20 Jump Squats
  • 20 Monkey Humpers
  • 20 Dips (pavilion)
  • 20 Step-ups (each leg, pavilion)
  • 20 Dips (pavilion)

With time approaching, back to the flag for some Mary consisting of:

  • Diamond Merkins (crazy that Miller Time saw this one coming)
  • Buzz-Saws
  • Flutter Kicks
  • T-Bombs

COT:

  • A number of new AO’s opening – check f3alpha.com for details.
  • Ha-ha with a 2 year F3 anniversary and will be spending most of his time at the new North Park AO.

Moleskin:

As Ha-ha discussed his 2-year Rubicon anniversary and moving to a new home AO, I thought about those that left Rubicon over a year ago to start The Wreck and bring F3 to all of the PAX that I now call my AO brothers.  While F3 has truly been a gift for many of us over the past year, it’s a far greater reward to share that experience and expand it to include others as we continue to grow the Alpha region.

AFLAC out.
