When: 2024-02-22

QIC: Knight Rider

PAX (15): Bottom Bunk, Cam's, Chapter 11, DeLorean, DirtyMO, Ha-ha, Jackalope, Matlock, Shortcake, Stu, Tank, TO, Tumbleweed, Untouchable

Preamble:

YHC arrived early at the AO to set up cones, lighting, sandbags, tunes, jump ropes, and printed instructions in the parking lot for Turf Field 1. Great to see some guests this AM…@Tank and the traveling @Jackalope 0530 was called with a quick intro, disclaimer, and we were off. We moseyed to the parking lot of Turf Field 1 for Warm-O-Rama. At first we had a nice even number..perfect for a partner workout...but just before Warm-o-Rama we hit an odd number. Thanks for comin' in hot @Shortcake...glad to have you and you matched the first song of the BD playlist. (Comin' in Hot)

Warm-O-Rama:

Led the PAX in-cadence through: SSH’s – 20 Weed Pickers – 10 Hillbillies – 10 Merkins – 10 Big Arm Circles - OYO

The Thang:

Overall workout flow / instructions, exercise demonstrations, and safety guidance were articulated. PAX were paired up as this would be a partner exercise (with one group of 3) throughout the BD. THANG #1: The goal was to complete 2-3 full laps of the sandbag carry course in the time allotted. Partner #1: SANDBAG CARRY around .25 uphill / downhill course with a stop for 25 loaded squats at the top of the hill --- Partner #2: JUMP ROPE (single-unders); perform 10 MERKINS every 45sec-1minute on the whistle ..continue with the JUMP ROPE/MERKIN mix until partner returns ---- When the partner carrying the sandbag returned to the jump rope area, both PAX performed 5 burpees, then swapped the sandbag/jump rope. Rinse and repeat until time (roughly 16 min) was called. Looks like each partner was able to complete 2 full laps of the sandbag course. Lots of mumblechatter and groaning on this one. I think the PAX are a fan of jump roping for 4 minutes at a time with Merkins thrown in every minute or so. It throws you off just as you start to get a rhythm going. We then moseyed to the other side of the parking lot with our sandbags in tow. THANG #2: The goal was to complete 6-7 full laps up and down the parking lot. Partner #1: (rinse and repeat until your partner returns to the starting line) 2 – BURPEES / then / 3 - INCLINE MERKINS (ON THE SANDAG) / then / 5 - LOADED SQUATS (WITH THE SANDAG) --- Partner #2: BEAR CRAWL (HALF WAY UP THE PARKING LOT) / then / RUN (TO TOP OF THE LOT) / then / 10 – BIG BOY SIT-UPS (AT TOP OF LOT) / then / RUN (BACK to the bottom of the lot to switch with your partner) --- Half-way through THANG #2 YHC sprinkled in an 10 extra Merkins to be performed at the end of each Bear Crawl. Rinse and repeat until time (roughly 15 min) was called. Lots of mumblechatter on this one as well and requests for time checks. Good stuff. YHC called time at 0612-ish with all PAX completing many laps of THANG #2..I lost count. SANDBAGS, JUMP ROPES, CONES were gathered, and the PAX ran back up the hill to the Pavilion for just under 2 minutes of MARY led by Ha-Ha. YHC gave Ha-Ha some guff for wanting to finish his called MARY reps…just after 0615. I like to keep those PAX who are on school bus duty on time, ya know. Yet, full RESPECT. – As Ha-Ha has said, “an F3 group is never without a leader…we are a group of leaders." I really appreciate it and you can be my Substi-Q (or is it Wingman) any time. :-) Thanks to all the PAX for helping to gather up gear at the end of the BD….it is my job as Q to gather up my stuff, but the extra hands at then end of the BD save me tons of time. Much appreciated. Great work by ALL the PAX today !!

Naked-Man Moleskin:

As always, it was an honor to lead at this premier AO. I think I’m starting to get the hang of this a little bit. Yet, I always want to remain humble, flexible and dynamic in the process, while putting the PAX first. Though it is nice “when a plan comes together.” It’s great to see PAX out from other AOs…please keep stopping by to see what The Norseman is all about. This one was hard, but fun.  I think the effort put out by the group today reinforces a few lines from the last song on the BD playlist: 'Cause there ain't no practice runs in life So don't get left behind This is not a, this is not a test This is the real thing F3 reinforces preparedness, because you never know what’s coming next. Put in the work and effort now so you can be prepared for tomorrow. You only get one shot at this life, so embrace getting out of your comfort zone. “Get busy living, or get busy dying.” SYITG!!!
