A Lot of Super Bowls

AO: Gladiator

When: 2024-02-08

QIC: Speedo

PAX (15): Birdie, Butterknife, Chanel, Cheneral, defcon2, Fire Drill, Laces, Macbeth, Mater, Porkchop, Slider, Sockey, Spandex, Speedo, vertigo

Preamble:

Only a couple of cars in the lot when YHC rolled in but then we had a min-traffic jam as everyone seemed to come at once. Vertigo was there so some guys were confused thinking it was June. Disclaimer was given and we were off.

Warm-O-Rama:

Mosey a bit then stopped for the following all IC x10:
  • Weed Pickers
  • Copperhead squats
  • Hillbillies
  • SSH (I think)
WGS OYO

The Thang:

Everyone knows Speedo can't pass up the chance to use the rec center wall for some donkey kicks. Lined up for 5 kicks IC then hold until Q says to drop. R&R with 10 and 15. Shoulders were smoldering with more fun to come. Mosey to the pitch for some fartleks. Divide the field up into 6 segments (2 segments on the long stretch, 1 on the end so 6 total). Mosey 5 segments, sprint 1 then hold for the six. R&R with 4+1, 3+1, 2+1 and 1+1. We then lined up on the 18-yard line in a plank position. The first guy did 5 no-surrenders then went back to a plank and the second guy went. That was a lot of planking. Circle up on the center circle. Pax were instructed to run to the corner closest to them, perform 5 burpees then run back and move a quarter of a circle clockwise. Shockingly, everyone listened and/or quickly figured it out. We repeated this until everyone had visited each of the four corners. Still in the middle circle in essentially four groups, YHC instructed groups 1 and 3 to bear crawl clockwise outside the circle while groups 2 and 4 bear crawled counter-clockwise inside the circle. We did this for half a lap and realized we'd missed a 2nd F opportunity. YHC told the pax to reverse course so groups 1 and 3 were inside the circle and 2 and 4 were outside the circle. As pax passed each other they were to high (low?) five. Mosey to the other pitch starting in the corner. Pax were instructed to do 5 HR mike tysons then run to the next corner for 8 BBSUs with hands behind head. Continue in a figure 8 pattern around the field so if my math is correct we did 4 rounds of each exercise plus some guys did an extra round at the end. Next, starting on the 18-yard line sprint toward the other end line but when YHC called down the pax had to drop, roll over, and then get back up and run. Field nuggets were in multiple places throughout our person. Lastly, line up on the far end line with instructions to sprint to the other end line. If Speedo, Birdie, or Spandex (all the #respect crew in attendance today) beat anyone to the end line, all pax owed a 5 burpee penalty. I'm not naming names but let's just say a baseball pitcher throwing a Slider could have run a little faster to avoid the penalty that was paid by all. Back to the flag for a little mary until time was called.

COT:

Praise for Spandex's new job. Prayers for I-Beam's father with a tough cancer diagnosis. Prayers for Mater's eye to recover fully Praise for strong bodies and the fellowship we all enjoy when we post.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Coming up on age 58 is interesting. I never thought I could do the stuff we do in the gloom and am very thankful to have you guys push me to get better every time. The fellowship is awesome and I love that we can laugh and poke fun and still come together shoulder to shoulder in the COT. Thanks for taking my lead today. --Speedo out
