Cinders

AO: Gladiator

When: 2024-02-01

QIC: Scratch-Off

PAX (11): Butterknife, Cheneral, defcon2, DREAMER, Hitchcock, Mater, Scratch-Off, Slider, Tar Heel, Yokel, Brownie

Preamble:

The Gladiator will pretty much always have a lower turnout when cinders are involved. YHC did my (his?) best to make people feel comfortable by offering cinder mods beforehand...but alas. Too many bad backs in the group. And also it's cold. Anywell, I had this one on the backburner for a while, so here we go.

Warm-O-Rama:

Warm up in place because man, Hitchcock was late this morning. 3 minutes?! Unacceptable. You know how much we can get done in 3 minutes? Almost a whole warmup that's how much. As for the actual warmup, I don't really remember, but who really cares? Something like SSH, Windmills, Michael Phelps, Monkey Arms, World's Greatest Stretch? [Shoulder shrug emoji]

The Thang:

Cusack to the field with your cinder and gather round the BoP. (BoP sounds so fun and friendly, somehting you might see on an episode of Barney, until you realize what it stands for). The BD was split to 4 rounds of 2 superset exercises each. The first exercise starts at 1 rep, builds to 10 and goes back down. The second exercise remains static at 1 rep. For example, the first round was KB Swings & Burpees: 1 KB Swing, 1 Burpee, 2 KB Swings, 1 Burpee, 3 KB Swings, 1 Burpee, (etc), up to 10 KB Swings, then back down to 1. Round 1: KB Swings (1, 2, 3, 4....10....1) & Burpees (1, 1, 1, 1...1...1) Round 2: Front Squats (1, 2, 3, 4....10....1) & Presses (1, 1, 1, 1...1...1) Round 3: Single Arm Pulls (1, 2, 3, 4....10....1) & Squats (air squats: no cinder) (1, 1, 1, 1...1...1) Round 4: Cinder Halos (1, 2, 3, 4....10....1) & Low Plank (5 count hold): (5, 5, 5, 5....5...5) Cusack Back to the Flag for Mary

COT:

Prayers:
  • Spandex, Ghost Rider, and they're family
  • Brownie's Friend & Coworker: recovering from amputation
  • Hitchcock's family
  • Men's retreat that a bunch of PAX are going to...
Misc: stretch out, ice today and tomorrow after putting a lot of work on your glutes and hamstrings. No back injuries from picking up your kids, please.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

10/10 would recommend getting friends that will make you do hard things. 10/10 would recommend pre-running to solve the world's (or just each other's) problems. 10/10 would recommend holding a Congressional burpee contest. We need that. As a country, we need that so bad. Love y'all. Scratch-off Out.
