Independence Day

Preamble:

It is the 4th of July and we celebrated our independence from monarchy and mediocrity by gathering in the gloom.

The Thang:

We utilized the 4 corners of the ballfield by doing an exercise at each corner and running from each corner to the next in-between.

1. 4 merkins at each corner except we did 5 at the last corner.
2. 19 squats
3. 4 Peter Parkers except we did 5 at the last corner
4. 19 calf raises
5. 4 WW2 setups except we did 5 at the last corner
6. 19 Rosalitas
7. 4 shoulder taps on each arm but 5 at the last corner
8. 19 American Hammers

There was a method to this madness.

July 4 – use 4 corners and did 2 x 4 laps

Lap 1 –  17 reps;  Lap 2 –  76 reps

and so on.  We 1776, 1776, 1776 and 1776.

When we reached the end it was exactly 6:15 a.m. – not bad

Prayers for my friends new grandson who was born very premature and is in the NICU in Oklahoma; for Script Kiddie’s family and decisions on buying a house as well as his dad’s recovery from surgery.  Prayers for all who are traveling and could not join us.  Praise for Seaman’s mostly positive medical report.  He goes to 11.

2nd F will be at Hall and Hound on Wednesday July 19th (since H and H is closed on Tuesdays)

Rome Ruck is on July 22

Acceleration Point (and Praise):  I lost my wallet and a Bible on Sunday.  Extremely frustrated.  Had to start canceling cards, etc.  Unable to do anything about my drivers license due to offices closed and July 4th.  Then yesterday when I came home from work, a man named Jose was in my driveway and he had my wallet and Bible to return to me.  He found them on the side of Hwy 20.  I apparently had set em down on my truck bed, forgot and drove off.  I tried to pay him with the cash in the wallet, he argued with me but I insisted he take it.  He told me he was just going to give the money to someone who needed it.  I told him “Good”.  He also asked that I pray for him when I remember what he did – I promised him I would and will make good on that promise.

These are the moments that renew faith in the goodness of people and can inspire us to be the best of ourselves.  So, go forth and Be Like Jose.
