When: 06/17/2022
QIC: Sprocket
PAX (09): Dosido, goat, lumbergh, Ollie, Speedo, The Real Woody, The_OG Zima, Thud
Preamble:
In celebration of 50+ personal orbits around the great big ball of burning gas that keeps us alive, QIC was privileged and honored to lead a workout that he thought worthy of the men that joined him.
Warm-O-Rama:
karaoke around the parking lot, switching directions at mid-point to loosen up the legs, SSH’s, Cotton pickers, sun gods. 15 reps IC except for sun gods where the count was OYO. Then, it was off to the coupon pile to pick-up some “party favors”.
The Thang:
with stony party favors selected, PAX were led to top of hill next to ab station. 10 reps of coupon rows and presses were performed so that PAX could get a feel for the amount of resistance his coupon would offer. QIC then led the PAX to pull-up station.
Sprocket’s B-day Beast Workout
6 rounds with a single round consisting of,
- a run to/from ab station sans coupon (approximately 75 yds)
- 10 squat thrusters using coupon
- 5 pull-ups (or chin-ups, muscle ups, tarzan pull-ups or sandbag rows as a mod.)
- 5 hanging knee raises
- 5 burpees
- 20 walking lunges with coupon
on final round, PAX took coupons with them to ab station. At ab station, QIC directed PAX to perform “Simple 7’s” consisting of coupon curls and Stone Mtn’s at base of hill. PAX performed well and made quick work of this part.
Back to the flag where several rounds of Mary were performed rounded out by Goat’s suggestion that– “hold it!”– diamond merkins be done.
COT:
Thanks given for the men present, their families, those grieving, those traveling and anything to sensitive to mention aloud. Thud shared something from the heart and it was much appreciated by QIC.
Naked-Man Moleskin:
“…The fewer friends I have, but you don’t need a lot when the ones that you got have always got your back…” ~ Alan Jackson, “The Older I Get”. Even if you’re not a fan of country music, I’d encourage you to give Mr. Jackson’s song a listen. Why? Because there are some truth nuggets in it. It was written by a man that had lived long enough to figure out what’s important and what’s not. That’s what I want to do: spend more time on people and less time on things. Why? I think the answer is simple: because people are more valuable. Many thanks for the birthday wishes. I am a blessed man. Sprocket out.
