Frisbee Golf at Wills (minus the frisbee, and the golf)

AO: The Rubicon

When: 02/23/2021

QIC: lumbergh

PAX (24): Updyke, Dosido, White Claw, Danica (FNG), Special K (R), Devito, Dakt, Sleepless, Trebek (R), Focker, Fanny Pack, Mayhem, MT, Lil Hurt, Zohan, Reggie (R), Lefty, Scar (R), Pinkey, Tech Support, Pitstop, False Start, Stifler

Preamble:

Strava released a heat map option on their website so you can see everywhere you have moved and the popular places you frequent. This shows around two years of Rubicon by my watch. It appears we have a lot of places left to explore. As it turns out, there may be a reason for some of that.

2 Ruckers plus 6 hillseeking prerunners

Warm-O-Rama:

A jog around the corner for some SSH, WP, and IWs. Everyone finds a partner, then that duo finds another duo. That is your foursome. (I don’t think it mattered in the end)

The Thang:

Wills Park has a lovely disc golf course that some of our own PAX regularly play. This is good as they knew there way around the course better than I did. Thank you Stifler!

Frisbee Golf Course

We start at hole one and do some type of crawl/walk to the pin and each person completes 10 merkins, 10 LBC, and 10 Jump Squats (or 40 each within the teams) plus X burpees where X = hole number.

A recent rain and a course along the creek makes for a muddy fairway which is already full of roots and rocks and sewage hazards. The bear crawl through the mud at hole one quickly sorted out who was willing to get dirty. Other holes have crab walks (with one nearly sliding down the bank), lunge walks, broad jumps (where many take to the cart path), more bear crawl, and a cheetah run (Which by this point many just ignored and ran off to the next pin). The group is now fully divided in to those that have only ever exercised on the astroturf of FOD and those praising my decision and encouraging me for taking the path less traveled. I stand strong!

We get through hole 8 and are running up on time. The layout allows us to hit hole 17, and 18 (with 17 and 18 burpees) to finish back at the F3 pin. Alas, we will have to play 9 through 16 another time.

4 more burpees puts us at 75 for the day. With the 100 merkins, 100 lbc, and 100 squats your lent challenge is done for the day. A little mary round robin and a low plank from MT until the last possible second of still being 6:15 despite White Claw’s attempt.

COT:

Prayers for a friend of Tech Support/Updyke whose mother is on a ventilator with covid.

Prerunners heard the tale of MT and Pellets who convinced a reluctant room of guys at NLB that climbing 30k in a weekend is a good time. Awesome work by TME. It is not too late to sign up for hillseeker.

Additional work by Pitstop and others at NLB for monthly beatdowns and dinners. Donations welcome.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Always a pleasure to lead at my home AO.
