Q School at NLB

AO: The Bound

When: 2024-05-08

QIC: Cookie

PAX (14): Birdie, Cookie, Ha-ha, MillerTime, Red Ryder (the one that posts), Rudy, Tsunami, Sugar, Bowser, Badger, Square Root, Golden Corral, FNG Whoopi, FNG Hot Shot

Preamble:

YHC saw the need to instill some Q fundamentals with the NLB guys to help encourage them to lead the workouts, which means it was time for Q School. It had been a least a year since the last one, so long overdue. Here are a few things we covered before the workout:
  • Start on time, end on time
  • What is F3?
  • We spoke about how it is peer led and that every man here is expected to lead
  • It's not NLB guys and F3 guys, once you post, we are all F3 men, regardless of where we rest our head at night
  • A proper disclaimer

Warm-O-Rama:

Mosey through the parking lot a few times to get warmed up, then a few usual exercises such as SSH, Imperial, merkins, etc.
  • We learned how to count in cadence
  • How to end a cadence count by the inflection in our voice
  • Ha-Ha correctly recited the mission of F3

The Thang:

Mosey off campus to a back lot for a burpee apocalypse and the 5 core principles, with skips for all correct answers. YHC spent a few minutes to give context for each of them along the way.
  • Free of charge
  • Open to all men
  • Held outdoors
  • Peer led
  • Ends with circle of trust
Head around the building to another vacant lot where we did a Dora 123. A few things YHC spoke about regarding how to organize and execute a beatdown:
  • How to keep it simple
  • How to time it out
  • When to call an audible
  • "If you can't do it, don't Q it"
  • Active recovery, no standing around
Running out of time, we moseyed back on campus with MillerTime picking up the six which meant it was a good time for the credo, "Leave no man behind, and leave no man where you found him". We spoke about never leaving the six and how these workouts should push the men to become better. We had a few minutes left so we did a Wall Chair and then 45 seconds of Balls to the Wall. We talked about having a few things in your back pocket to help manage time, such as BTTW or a Colt 45, etc. 2 minutes left so we circled up for Mary with a few more tips at the end.

COT:

All in all, I think it went pretty well. We were sweaty, the new guys seemed to learn a good bit about F3. During COT, Lots of prayers were spoken for PAX, families and friends, and just the overall work that NLB is doing in these men's lives. Welcome 2 new FNG's, Hot Shot (Tim who loves basketball) and Whoopi (Keegan from Macon). Coffeeteria followed. Honored to lead.
