lumberghathon 2: Eight Crazy Nights

AO: Bad Apple

When: 12/07/2020

QIC: lumbergh

PAX (7): Sprocket, Zima, Pass Interference, Chalupa, Rusty, Pony Boy

Preamble:

Back in the spring of 2019 I did a series of workouts at Rubicon that usually centered around a theme or just took a big swing at strange ideas. I labeled it lumberghathon and enjoyed the creative side of building a workout and challenging others. I couldn’t let 2020 go without doing it again so I found a week of open workouts in the region to make this a traveling show, worked on some graphics, and wrote out a plan for each AO. The week kicks off at Bad Apple.

Warm-O-Rama:

Quick mosey for some SSH, IW, and WP. Was too eager to get this idea going.

The Thang:

Come December there is always a series of ’12 days of Christmas’ that pax put together. I felt it wasn’t fair to miss the eight nights of Hanukkah (note: No, I am not Jewish, but my savior was). Hanukkah starts Thursday so it’s a good time for this BD.

I built a die (dreidel if you will) and labeled the sides:

  • Merkin
  • LBC
  • Burpee
  • Jump Squat
  • RUN
  • ? (Wild Card)

We will take turns spinning the dreidel and increase rep count by 8 for each roll with the first roll starting at 8 reps, second roll at 16, and so on to 64 (8 rounds). All of this happens to a soundtrack of jewish artists.

The die was put together kind of quick so may not be vegas approved. It appeared to favor Jump Squats, and runs. A number of wilds got some mountain climbers, SSH, plank jacks, and big boys mixed in. While burpees only came up twice they both happened at 40 reps. It is fun to see who is brave enough to risk the 64 rep roll.

We got through two full rounds and as we finished up 40 burpees on the third round it was time to head back to the flag.

COT:

Prayers for Rusty’s brother Rick as he recovers from surgery. It should be noted he is the toughest patient ever seen and we should call his doctor to confirm.

Santa Ruck on Saturday. Donations are encouraged even if you can’t attend. Sprocket is coordinating for Bad Apple. Can goods are key for weight.

I am back at it at Norseman tomorrow with a new workout.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Thank you for welcoming me this morning to Bad Apple. I hope to attend more regularly in 2021 as I lurk on slack and admire their beatdowns and playlists, both of which I appear to have lived up to.

Always a pleasure to lead this group.
