Preamble:
The lure of the gladiator keychain brought a man back. My last Q at The Gladiator was during the Iron Pax Week 1 Challenge and these little gems weren’t available. Going into the workout all I had in mind was the Mucho Mile at the start and a Sox favorite of Stairway to Heaven calf raises..always like having a little on the fly creativity.
Warm-O-Rama:
Quick mosey around parking lot starting with high knees…errr butt kickers, high knees, karaoke.
10 x SSH
15 x Hillbilly
The Thang:
After the brief warmup it was time to get to work and we took off towards Holcomb Bridge with our sights set on completing the Mucho Mile. Every roughly 1/4 mile we stopped for a round of Mucho Chesto (50 reps) until we completed out 200 reps by the baseball diamond. At each 1/4 mile stop the Pax did performed either an air chair or star jumps until the six was in.
Heard a few calls here for BTTW and was tempting, but the Pax looked hungry for leg work after we torched our chest and tri’s. We did a Pellets version of Dora 1-2-3 with 100 step ups, 150 box jumps, and 200 dips. While teammate did the exercise the partner ran around the bathroom and back to the station. The dips were welcomed with open arms after the box jumps. Stroller lead the Pax in a couple rounds of Mary as the Pax wrapped up.
Time for one more exercise we journeyed over to the stairs by the splash park and did an inclining count calf raises at the top of the steps. I was too busy thinking about my burning newborn colt calves to realize we had a nice conga line going with 17 Pax. Quick adjustment to skip a step at the top section cleared the path. Sox reminded me how much he loved this exercise from The Widowmaker. Round of Mary waiting on the Pax included some mountain climbers and Diamond Merkins.
Rally to the flag with a couple minutes to spare for a couple rounds of Mary and the work was done.
COT:
- Reminder for Sox’s Tillman Run going down this Saturday. Race day registration available.
- TP for Puddle Jumper dealing with loss of a family member.
- Quick heal prayer for Mufasa and Defcon2
Naked-Man Moleskin:
The last 2-3 weeks I’ve been in a workout rut. Have been going through the motions but also giving myself excuses on missing workouts. Finally, while sitting at the pool this Sunday drinking multiple beers…I said the hell with it I’m going to workout 7 days in a row whether it’s a run or an F3 workout don’t care I’m getting after it daily. Sure enough having a goal in mind has re-energized my activity.
Moral of the story…
Don’t allow yourself to get in a rut. Set workout goals. I’m learning that even if I have events planned in the future if I don’t set short term goals life and laziness will fill that time if I don’t do it.
