365 days ago, YHC pulled up to the Hooch parking lot not knowing what I would find… After an invite and some EHing from Sunshine I took the plunge. A quick look around the circle that first morning rapidly revealed to me that I was in for some serious pain. What I didn’t know then, but know full well now, is how much I would enjoy the pain as time went on and as I continued to attend beatdowns.
It’s not because it hurts any less than another workout or bootcamp, or because the beatdown is any shorter or easier; I enjoy it because of the brothers who share in the pain with me. A year ago, if it hurt, I would just stop exercising, give up and walk away. Now, because these men continually push me, I show up and keep going (even when it hurts like hell). That’s the testament to why we get up at the at the butt crack of dawn and push each other. It’s not because you need it, but because the man standing on your left or right needs it.
So, my hat’s off to you brothers – and the only thing I could to show my gratitude was to return the favor and provide a generous 1-year anniversary beatdown. From the lack of mumble chatter and a few choice curse words, it sounded like it succeeded – and it still hurt like hell.
WARM UP
Quick disclosure and short mosey around the Hooch lot:
- 15 SSH
- 8 weed pickers
- 12 Hill billys
THANG 1:
Mosey from the Hooch parking lot over to PC lot. Of course, as the way things work sometimes, YHC’s calf started acting up. Not helpful, but we keep going. Stopped for some quick audibles:
- 20 Merkins OYO
- 30 Merkins OYO
Mosey to the large field and partner up for some DORA, the other partner runs down the field and back:
- 100 Burpees
- 200 Hand Release Merkins
- 300 Squats
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from F3 is that there’s pain in simplicity. As you can imagine, it took a little while.
When we finished and were waiting for the six, we did:
- 20 LBCs
- 20 American Hammers
- 20 Gas pumpers
THANG 2:
Mosey to the fire pit and two rounds, OYO, of:
- Dips
- Derkins
- Urkins
First set was 20 reps, second set was 10 reps. Even 10 reps of Urkins hurt after the HRMs.
MARY
Mosey back to the flag for a little shared Q Mary:
- LBCs
- Supermans
- Reverse LBCs
- LBC Flutterkicks
COT
Prayer for Flo’s daughter with her pool injury over the weekend, for the books that Feathers sent overseas to the school in Tanzania and the new AO launch coming soon.
Also, big shout out to Jimbo for bestowing on me the honorable Hooch Coupon Trophy. It will be back.
Thanks again brothers.
