To Failure then keep going

AO: Boneyard

When: 02/10/2023

QIC: Speedo

PAX (9): Dinghy, Dugger, Feathers, Kegger, Mater, Scrooge, Zohan, Brownie

Preamble:

The last day of YHC being 56 so I thought we’d do something difficult.  Actually, it would not have mattered how old I am, we were still going to do something difficult.  Cinders were on the menu and men were in the parking lot.  Disclaimer was given and we were off, leaving the coupons for now.

Warm-O-Rama:

Mosey around a bit and then circled up for:

  • Weed pickers x10 IC
  • Hillbillies x10 IC
  • Copperhead Squats x10 IC
  • Arms circles x10 IC then other direction x10 IC
  • SSH x10 IC

The Thang:

Mosey back to pick up the cinders then head to the lacrosse field where a board of pain awaited.  PAX were instructed to do each exercise to failure (or until a 4-5 second break was needed) and then take a lap (sans coupon).  Exercises were:

  • Flutter kicks w/ coupon
  • Merkins w/o coupon
  • Squats w/coupon
  • BBSUs
  • Curls
  • Monkey humpers
  • OH press w/coupon

It was clear that certain exercises were easier for some than for others.  We all ended back at the start at about the same time after finishing our last lap.

After Zohan astutely and correctly noted we did not have time to do a second round, YHC instructed the pax to pick the three exercises that were the hardest for them.  Starting with the most difficult, do it to failure then run across the field and back.  Rinse and repeat for #2 and #3.

Last thang…line up (w/o coupon) on the center line and sprint to the fence on the east end of the field.  Repeat back to the center. From the center line sprint to the fence on the west end of the field but this time when YHC yelled ‘down’ pax had to drop and do a superman then back up and run.  I think we did three downs on the first pass then four on the way back to the center line.

Pick up the coupons and back to the flag for a rousing round of LBCs to close things out.

COT:

Many thanks to Feathers for taking the initiative to launch this AO about 1.5 years ago.  He set the tone and the Boneyard continues to grow and add new pax.  Thanks to Mater for agreeing to take on the site Q role.  He’s been accelerating faster than just about anyone over the last year and is a perfect choice to fill this leadership role.

Prayers for Dinghy’s job search, Morphine’s dad and family, Mater’s MIL as she travels back to Hong Kong, Zohan’s son as he takes his driving test today, and Feather’s dad as he continues to battle health issues (but praise for his new pacemaker!).

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Thanks for working hard and pushing me this morning.  For me at least, it is ALWAYS difficult to get up that early but I am ALWAYS thankful at 6:15 when we can stand shoulder to shoulder having done something difficult together.  I really appreciate the fitness aspect but there’s no way I’d do that if it weren’t for the fellowship that comes with it.  Thanks for making me feel younger than 56!
