75s with a side of mumble chatter

AO: Gladiator

When: 02/02/2023

QIC: Moonshine

PAX (15): Bo Knows, Cheneral, Fire Drill, Ironhead, Judy, Laces, RaspberryPi, Scratch-Off, Snowbird, Spandex, Tar Heel, Tebow, Brownie

Preamble:

‘Twas a cold, wet morning at the Gladiator. Indeed, we heartily proved that 44 with rain and wind is colder than a dry 25. In writing that sentence, YHC heard a great movement in the force as dads everywhere called out in agreement that, “It’s not the temperature that gets you, it’s the humidity.”

And speaking of dads, mine turns 75 today. He’s my hero. A fact I should have shared with the PAX – nay, peanut gallery – to avoid what in hindsight was a lot of disrespectful mumble chatter by 14 men who didn’t know that the BD was dedicated to someone special. Shame on me. Instead, YHC was bombarded with ruthless, yet hilarious, wisecracks that I was falling short of the 4-corners-creativity that the HIMs of the Gladiator have come to expect.

Special shout out to the 3 prerunners who braved the elements to crest a brand new hill.

Warm-O-Rama:

Mosey to Pavilion #1

Circle back for Bo Knows and his abused suspension.

Get back on track to Pavilion #1

Then give a whole-hearted disclaimer that was sure to hold up.

25 SSH
25 Weed pickers. You read that right. twenty. five. weed pickers. With tempo too. I honestly don’t know what I was thinking…but as the disclaimer says: I’m not a professional.
25 Moroccan Night Clubs

This is about when the mumble chatter started. But you, dear reader, are armed with the knowledge of Dad’s 75th and are empowered by both a good elementary education (that’s primary school, Raspberry) and deductive reasoning. So, you’re definitely on my side, connecting the dots: oh, I get it – 75 reps for warm up, 75 years old!

The pattern continues…

The Thang:

Next up

  • 25 Step-ups on a bench
  • 25 Dips
  • 25 Leg Lifts from the bench

x3

I could tell from the subtle mumble chatter that the PAX dreaded doing 40 minutes of those 3 reps, so I followed my well-prepared, definitely-not-made-up-on-the-spot plan to run to pavilion #2 for (I hope you’re sitting down for this):

  • 25 Single Leg Squats (on each leg)
  • 25 BBSU
  • 25 Derkins

x3

We should note that I also invented a new stretch. We’ll call it, “the respect”, but it kinda looks like a static-hold version of a star jump. We did that in between rounds.

During this second-pavilion circuit, there was a particularly odd line of mumble chatter that involved where specifically you wait for a prescription to be filled in a pharmacy. While I was right next to the PAX engrossed in this conversation, my ghost writer was removed from the immediate area…and caught only snippets out of context. If you were there, it definitely would’ve caused a giggle.

We then moseyed back to the flag for a circuit involving 25 LBCs…and maybe mountain climbers? My ghost writer can’t really remember. Anyway, we did some stuff, then we did some Mary, then we closed with COT.

COT:

  • Prayers for Judy’s mom’s ankle surgery
  • Prayers for Mrs. Bo Knows – last day of chemo was yesterday and surgery is scheduled for march 8
  • Gladiator Running Club Tomorrow: ERP @ 5:15

Naked-Man Moleskin:

It’s my dad’s 75th birthday, and like I mentioned above, he’s my hero. It wasn’t always like that, as you can imagine as a 14-year-old, but as I got older, I truly realize the impact he has had on me.

So, those with young kids, remember to love them unconditionally, do right by them…and be their hero…even when it doesn’t feel like it.

Thanks y’all,

Moonshine, out.
