Preamble:

With the weather warming up ever so slightly but with Spring Break starting I wasn’t sure who/what to expect this morning.  4 pax for a pre-ruck + 2 pre-runners suggested we’d have at least six for the beatdown.  As 0700 rolled around a short disclaimer was given and we were off.  Several late arrivals were picked up along the way.

Warm-O-Rama:

Mosey toward the front of the park stopping at the first intersection where we circled up for:

  • Weed pickers – slow and stretchy x10
  • Imperial Squat Walkers – squat, up with the right elbow to left knee, squat, up with the left elbow to right knee x10
  • OH claps sobriety style – OH claps while standing on one leg, switch legs on Q’s command x10
  • Tie Fighters – in a static lunge position, perform LBACs.  Switch legs and direction on Q’s command.

The Thang:

Mosey to the top of the tennis courts parking lot where we circled up for a merkin wave.  With everyone in a circle in a plank position, QIC performed one merkin then the HIM to his left did the same and we went around the circle.  Rinse and repeat by adding one to the rep count each time.  Made it to 8.

Staying in the same place we held an air chair for a squat wave.  Same concept as above but with an increasing number of squats.  Made it to 8.

Mosey to the top of the Widowmaker where we planked for the six then headed down to the bottom.  QIC introduced the monkey jumper.  Start in a half squat and grab the inside of your ankles (like a monkey humper) then let go and perform a jump squat.  We did 20 OYO then ran to the end of the guardrail and back.  QIC called for another 10 plus a run.  Then QIC remembered he’d skipped the 15-rep portion so we did 15 more plus a run.  Mumblechatter was increasing.

Mosey down to the bottom loop where stopped somewhere along the trail for a session of Jingle Balls.  This is essentially a Peter Parker/Parker Peter combo starting with the right foot to right hand then right foot to left hand then repeat on the left side…that’s one rep.  We did 20 OYO. Many PAX figured out the rhythm right away and a few, thinking it was too easy, figured out they were doing them wrong and quickly corrected it.

Continue to mosey down the path with lots of suggestions about ideas about new exercises (the Peter Parker Parker Peter Pickle Pounder was suggested along with other more awkward ideas) so we’ll see where that goes.  Stop on the path for 15 Annies OYO.  Mosey back to the bottom of the WM hill (where there was somehow some disagreement about where the bottom of the hill actually is) for a little mary while we waited for the six (including YHC).

Circled up for another wave…this time big bois while holding 6-inches when waiting.  We got to 8 on this one as well.  Next YHC instructed the PAX on how we would get back up the hill by re-introducing the Contra Burpee…burpees with an increasing number of merkins & broad jumps.  PAX were challenged to get to the human-hole cover and then go back down to pick up the six.  Boomer was first to the top (surprised?) and was so excited about the exercise that he tried to high-five me with his closed fist on the way back down.  At the homo sapien hole cover, PAX were allowed to cheat and just run to the top.

After a bi-directional, multi-lingual walking 10-count we moseyed back toward the flags where we sadly found one of the two flags lying on the ground.  Someone quickly corrected that but the 13 burpee penalty was paid by all on the pitch.

For the last bit of fun QIC had the pax line up on the goal line for a simple set of 7’s:

  • Plank Destroyers on the goal line – look it up…sux
  • Get-ups on the mid-field line

A couple of mary exercises were called by the gazelles while YHC and others finished our last round of get-ups.

COT:

Prayers for safe travels for all the spring breakers and for great memories to be made.  Prayers for my dad who suffered some TIA strokes this week.  Prayers for our world and its leaders

Reminder about F3 Alpha convergence on May 7 – Widowmaker will be closed that day and this will be advertised a lot in advance

Thank you to those who were able to donate blood this past week and a reminder about the upcoming blood drive on April 8.  Check Slack or hit Dipstick on Slack for details.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

YHC was a little unsure how some of the planned exercises would work out today but I know I was gassed which means at least a few others were as well.  I love seeing the teamwork, hearing the mumblechatter, and working hard with you guys.  Thanks for posting and for pushing.
