11’s on the Hill

Preamble:

Somehow YHC, despite my M just having a baby, managed to slip out for a beat down approximately 12 hours after Jo-Jo was born.  It was probably the exquisitely comfortable chairs they have for dads in the delivery rooms.  That plus the noise-canceling headphones (a must for any dad-to-be) made for a restful day.  Anyhoo…3 pre-runners, an almost-pre-runner plus 8 other pax were ready for a special Q surprise.

Warm-O-Rama:

Brownie, playing the part of Scratch-off (or is it the other way around?), led us to the parking lot by the tennis courts for:

• SSH x20 (or maybe 15)
• Weed pickers x10 (no weeds were harmed due to very fast cadence)
• Windmills x10

The Thang:

11’s on the hill.  From the bottom where the road curves start with 10 HR merkins.  Run to the top, stopping for three burpees at the zebra crossing, for one bonnie blair.  Back down, stopping again for three burpees.  Rinse and repeat.  Simple, sucky, tough.  Some gazelles picked up the six and the entire group made it back to the flag just as time was called.

COT:

Prayers for the Perry family who lost their wife/mom to covid.  Praises for Dreamer’s friend whose baby had some heart issues…should grow out of them.  I feel like I’m missing some but it was a good time of sharing.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

YHC actually feels pretty good after all those merkins, burpees, and bonnies.  I guess it’s the toughness I developed going through the birth of yet another child.  It was tough but when I was called on to pull the car around to the front door to pick up my M, I was there BEFORE she even got down there.  Not to mention it only took me seven tries to get the car seat installed correctly.  Oh, and if anyone sees my 2-year-old daughter please bring her home ASAP.
