The rainy day that Lumbergh, Hasselhoff and Jetson did NOT post at the Hooch

AO: The Hooch

When: 12/08/2021

QIC: Homer

PAX (9): Angus, BallBoy, Bo Knows, Boomer, Hammer, Homer, Homer, Ready-Mix (F3), Scrooge, Tenderfoot

Preamble:

Perhaps this backblast should be titled:

  • Homer’s 3 year F3 anniversary Q
  • How Homer can botch the disclaimer better than anyone,  or
  • We need to fundraise and get Homer some new glasses, or
  • At least Homer listened to the PAX about staying semi close to the pavilion. or
  • TL;DR

But here’s the  deal… It’s my third F3 anniversary,  so I came back to where I started. Crossed the river and made my way to the Hooch. Had a great morning planned out and then at 3am I woke up to pouring down rain. Knew that I’d have to modify everything. Woke up at 4:45, looked at dark sky and thought… you know… we might be able to do part of what I had planned. Got a pot of coffee brewing and took off for the Hooch. (Mind you, I’m only able to post to the Hooch 2x a month at most now. I’ve been all over the Gwinnett Region… even though Hooch is my closest Monday/Wednesday AO.

It’s as the PAX start walking up to the warmup circle that my glasses and eyesight failed me. Dark, a little mist in the air. Everyone bundled up with several opting for skullcaps for warmth.

Stepping out a truck across the parking lot and walking up to the circle, I spot Lumbergh. Or at least who I think to be Lumbergh. I had just seen on timehop in the past few days a post from a year or two ago where  Lumbergh was visiting a circuit of AOs… I know that Lumbergh isn’t a usual Hooch PAX, so I greet him. “Lumbergh!  You doing some traveling around?”

Hammer (I realize this isn’t Lumbergh after the first couple exercises) replies, “no. Not doing much traveling.”

I think to myself. OK. He seems sorta out of it. Guess he just decided to join the Hooch this morning.

I look around the circle. Don’t see anyone new. I’ve not been to the Hooch in a while. Some faces are missing, but everyone here appears to be fairly veteran PAX. Hasselhoff (it was not Hasselhoff) and Jetson (it was not Jetson) were actually Bo Knows and Tenderfoot. #facepalm

So we start off with some warmups.

Warm-O-Rama:

Warm up with weedpicker, hillbilly, SSH.

(it’s at this time that I still am not 100% sure if I’ll modify my original plan or make something up on the fly. I decide to modify. There had already been some mumblechatter about staying dry and using the one drivethru overhang (more like a pavilion) at the Hooch. If I go off property toward Perimeter church far there’s little protection It’s not pouring yet, so I decide to take a lap around Starbucks and back to the pavilion. Noted to the PAX we’d use this loop run again soon.

The Thang:

I decide to modify what Youtube did to us at the Hall of Justice yesterday. We did:

  • 20 Merkins
  • 20 Squats
  • 20 LBCs
  • 20 Mountain Climbers
  • Run a lap

It’s at this point in time that I am clueing in to the fact that this Lumbergh looking PAX is NOT Lumbergh. He seems like he’s fairly new to F3 and I hope that I don’t hurt him, because my intro/disclaimer was horrible… I really hope he’s not an FNG. So during the lap run, I sorta stay back with him (who are we kidding… i’m a slow runner myself) and introduce myself. I actually apologize for thinking he was Lumbergh and find out his F3 name is Hammer and he’s been coming for a couple months.

Round 2. More of the same.

  • 20 Merkins
  • 20 Squats
  • 20 LBCs
  • 20 Mountain Climbers
  • Run a lap

It’s at this point that I realize I want to get out from under this pavilion and find something else to do. So we head toward the other end of parking lot near Hurricane’s (I know it’s a bakery now)

Circle up for a Merkin Ring of Fire. Mumblechatter about being out in the wet parking lot and sarcastic comments “this is much better.” We do not go the distance. We stop at 100 merkins. I just really wanted to get in another 10 merkins sneakily for the monthly merkin  challenge we’re doing in december.

Mosey toward Homer’s Donut. I’m sure everyone thought we were going to bear crawl the donut, but YHC decided that a good lunge walk was in order.

Afterward we entered the adjacent parking lot. This area was in my first VQ. We bearcrawled the donut and then did a DORA in the parking lot. So, this morning, we split up and did a DORA. This one being 100 Merkins, 200 LBCs, 300 Squats. Partner A run a lap while partner B does reps. Cumulative count.

When done, we Mosey’d back to wall behind “Hurricanes” and same partners do StarJumps and Wall Sits and then StarJumps and Balls to the Wall.

Mosey back to pavilion for MARY.

We just get under the covering and on our six when another downpour hits. For the most part we stayed fairly dry.

Mary consisted of:

  • Dying cockroach
  • boxcutter
  • flutter LBCs,
  • Annies
  • buzzsaw
  • plank stretches
  • American hammers
  • gas pumper
  • something else

COT:

Ended with thanks to these men and others not in attendance who have pushed me the past 3 years. This group and this AO is really special to me. More than they ever know. It’s a legacy that I  take very seriously as I help lead and build the Gwinnett region.

Prayers for Tenderfoot’s BIL after having a medical procedure.

Prayers for each of us to keep our focus through holidays.

We failed to mention it, but need to remember the Santa Ruck this weekend.
