Preamble:

The ISS is coming, the ISS is coming! That is the International Space Station if you didn’t know. Every so often while the Alpha is in the dark, the Space Station flies over in the sunlight and makes for a spectacular bright “star” racing across the sky. This morning it was scheduled for 6:07:

Time: Tue Aug 24 6:07 AM, Visible: 5 min, Max Height: 62°, Appears: 21° above WSW, Disappears: 10° above NE

So the mission was set.

Warm-O-Rama:

I had mapped out a “new” way to get to the St. Francis track using the St. Francis Cross Country trails. We ran to the other end of our parking lot and exited into the trees and the trail system. We paired up with guys that had headlamps for the run through the dark. Along the way Untouchable rolled his ankle and had to return to the flag and depart home. Thanks to the guys that looked after him and got him safely out to the parking lot.

Untouchable, we will see you back out soon!

We circled up at the track for

  • SSH
  • Weed Pickers
  • Imperial Walkers

The Thang:

We mosied over to the cinder pile and each picked out a cinder and returned to the track.

Dora Time

Three exercises with reps split between two PAX:

  • 100 Curl-Press
  • 200 Squat-Press
  • 300 Flutter Kicks with the cinder held above your head.

While one did reps, the other partner ran to the opposite end of the 100 yard straight and back.

After completing the reps, we returned the cinders to the pile and went back to the south side of the track for Mary. While on our sixes we got the payoff. The ISS come over right on schedule very bright and very fast. A nice way to finish up the workout.

We mosied back to the flag through the trails again and finished with merkins.

COT:

Prayers for Untouchable to heal quickly. Prayers for Afghanistan.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Sometimes the best laid plans don’t work out how you want them to. But we adapt and move on having learned something that we can apply to the next time. Don’t always stick to a plan just because it is the plan. If you get better or different information along the way, adapt! We didn’t have enough guys with headlamps today. Was that the cause of the rolled ankle? Maybe not but having more light would have been the smart move and we had an alternative path that was better lit.

Take this lesson to the rest of your day. What plans do you need to adapt today based on new or different information?
