Shoulders, rocks and hips, repeat

AO: The Gladiator

When: 01/05/2021

QIC: Speedo

PAX (16): Stroller, Spandex, Cheneral, Tar Heel, Bo Knows, Scratchoff, Duggar, Bunyan, Laces, Tebow, Shiner, Kegger, Delicious, Dreamer, Raspberry Pi

Preamble:

With the first Gladiator beat down of the year, it was a beautiful morning for lifting heavy things!  Two pre-runners (Stroller and Scratchoff) joined 14 others to get ready for the day that the Lord has made.

Warm-O-Rama:

Moseyed to the parking lot on the other side of the rec center for:

  • SSH x15
  • Weed pickers x15
  • Windmills x10
  • Without dropping arms:
    • Forward arm circles x10
    • Backward arm circles x10
    • Overhead claps x10
    • Seal claps x10
    • Air presses x10

Off to the bottom of the back hill

The Thang:

PAX were told to pick a curlable coupon…something that was going to push them but wasn’t too heavy.  Circled up for:

  • Curls x50 – Cusack for the 6
  • Standing chest press x50 – Cusack for the 6
  • Squats with coupon x50 – Cusack for the 6
  • Skull crushers x50 – Cusack for the 6

For some reason, certain PAX wanted to drop their coupon between sets but they quickly learned the idea was to keep the coupon on your person the whole time.  Lots of time for mumble chatter, form policing, Andy Kaufman boxing women, and ‘hot wife’ discussions when guys weren’t grunting and groaning.

We then moseyed with our coupons to the parking lot at the top of the hill and spread out for another fun set which included:

  • 8 curls
  • 8 rows
  • 8 presses
  • 8 skull crushers
  • 8 merkins (sans coupon)
  • run to a designated spot (~100 yards round trip)

We intended to do this 8 times which a few studs were able to finish.  Due to time constraints, YHC called time after round 6 for me.  We carried our coupons back to their home and some of the more sentimental guys kissed their rock goodbye.

Off to the pitch where we circled up in the center for a new favorite of mine (with credit to Flo from the Hooch who taught this to me).  On hands and knees:

  • Fire hydrants – 30 each leg
  • Knee to elbow then kick back/up like a scorpion – 30 each leg
  • Forward leg circles – 30 each leg
  • Backward leg circles – 30 each leg
  • Kick leg out to the side – 30 each leg

LOTS of mumble chatter on this one since most guys had not done this type of exercise, especially not with a bunch of other guys around.  References to laxatives, Jane Fonda, butt pain, high-rise toilets, and other almost-NSFW comments allowed for some laughs in the midst of the pain we were all feeling.

Moseyed to the flag for some mary including:

  • Pickle pounders
  • Freddy Mercuries
  • Box cutters (warp speed)

COT:

Continued prayers for El Hombre as he and his family recover from a bad car accident in Montana.  Praise/prayers for Stroller’s sister having her first baby any day now.  Prayers for Georgia and our country as we await the results of today’s election.

A reminder that Backpack Infantry is rucking on Wednesdays at 0530 starting at the Mayfair/St. Clair pool parking lot.  Check Slack and/or contact Kegger for details.

The first monthly Murph is scheduled for Saturday, January 16 at East Roswell Park.  Check Slack for details/timing.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

It’s always a blast working out with the men of the Gladiator.  Thanks for posting and working hard.
