Rain, Rain…where were you?

AO: The Rubicon

When: 03/03/2020

QIC: False Start

PAX (17): MillerTime, Devito, Cookie, Trebek, Pinkey, Fanny Pack, Lumbergh, White Claw, Milli Vanilli, Full Moon, Turbine, El Matador, Zima, Mayhem, Shirley, Krueger

Preamble:

YHC was completely expecting rain, so my Q was all based on that.  I guess I should plan for that in the future, because we were spared and got to explore all the goodness that Wills Park had to offer.

Away we go!

Warm-O-Rama:

Mosey to the flag for some warm-up:

  • SSH x 15
  • Windmill x 12
  • Imperial Walkers x 12
  • Good Mornings x 10

And we’re ready to go, on to the goodness…

The Thang:

The Thang #1

Find your favorite partner for Mary.  We’re going to use the parking lot islands as stations, with one partner running around the island and the other doing the exercise.  Each island is different:

  • Plank (helping get in the Lenten challenge)
  • Flutter Kicks
  • Dolly
  • Rosalita
  • J-Lo’s (the gravel parking lot made these extra fun)

That was fun, so let’s repeat and head back to where we started, but slightly modify: the running partner has to karaoke around the islands.

The Thang #2

Here’s where we’re into the rain plan that was supposed to be under the HLP.  Pick up a coupon from the rock pile and divide up into groups of 2, 3, or 4 (apparently I had a hard time counting to equally divide the group).  1 group runs wherever they want (most did the same) and the other groups each had 1 of the following exercises, AMRAP:

  • Squats with the coupon
  • Curls
  • Presses
  • Skullcrushers
  • Rows

After the running group came back, we rotated to the next station, etc. until everybody got a turn at the pain.

Not done yet, so let’s see what we can do to fill the time.

The Thang #2.1

Let’s finish strong before some Mary:

  • 3 Minute Wall Sit (Lenten challenge #2, check)
  • 15 Burpees (Lenten challenge #3, check)

Back to the flag for some Mary.

  • LBCs
  • Buzzsaw (led by Full Moon)
  • Dying Cockroach (led by Full Moon)
  • Crunchy Frog (led by Turbine)
  • Merkins (led by Devito)

Done

COT:

Heads up for the 5-year anniversary coming up in May, make plans to be there.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Being fairly new to F3, prepping to Q is both fun and nerve-racking.  Your plans never work out as you anticipate.  Today I expected rain and being under a pavilion all morning.  Instead, I couldn’t have asked for a better morning.  It seems cliche to use such a simple item as a life lesson, but just goes as a simple reminder that things never go as planned.  That doesn’t matter though, because being quick on your toes and surrounded by those willing you to be successful make the whole thing easy (and fun!).

Until next time!
