Is 14 the New 8….A Tribute to Poison

AO: The Shadow

When: 08/27/2019

QIC: Manhole

PAX (14): Vortex, Suds, Seles, Scout, Radar, Meathead, Manhole, Madoff, Leon, Hatchet, GreenBean, Fireballs, CIA, Chaingang

Preamble:

It was overcast, it was cooler than it had been, and the rain had subsided from the night before. It was 5:25 and the Q began to check his watch. Could this be the day. Finally? Were to back pedal this day. The cars trickled in at 1st and then flowed, and when the beatdown was enjoined, the count was 14, and Manhole was happy. Yet another day above 8. Is this the new normal?

Time to get it on.

Warm-O-Rama:

So it began, two rounds, all IC and x15 and then x10, Side Straddle Hop (SSH), Standing Toy Soldiers (the cadence is critical), Prisoner Squats, Windmills and Stone Mountains. Time to mosey, and mosey we did. Down the lot and out, across Womack and up Vermack to the picnic tables. And so it begins. Well really it began after the Stone Mountains and the subsequent plank….

The Thang:

Assume the position for 10 Incline Merkins, turn it around and sit down for 10 Dips, also in cadence….and we mosied…. continuing up Vermack and up to the driveway for a brief respite at the benches. Well, not really a respite so much as 10 Incline Merkins, turn it around and sit down for 10 Dips, also in cadence and then we mosied, back out the driveway and up Vermack to Vanderlyn and over to the 2nd driveway. Warrior lunges across the parking lot to the other side and then we mosied down the hill and down to the Pit of Despair, where each man grabbed a stone and back to the benches we went.

In honor of Poison who has forsaken us, we did his Thang:  Kettle Bell Swings, Squat and Press, and Step-Ups. 1st time around we did 20. Plank for the six.

Went for a mosey around the upper parking lot, and back down to the Seles-Stop for some Mary: (all IC and x15) Rosalita, Low Scissor (BallCrushers), Low Slow Flutter, Low Dolly, and Obliques (right and left).

Back to the benches for Round 2 Kettle Bell Swings, Squat and Press, and Step-Ups. 2nd time around we did 15. Plank for the six.

Up the side walk we went to the front of the school to the bars. Here we partnered off and did one set partner dips and one set partner merkins OYO and x10 each partner.

Back to the benches for 3rd round – Kettle Bell Swings, Squat and Press, and Step-Ups. 3rd time around we did 10. Plank for the six.

Take your rock and circle up. Curls for the girls. (IC and x10) 1st set with the rock who brung you. 2nd set two steps to the left.  3rd set four steps to the left. Take your borrowed rock home and mosey….back to the picnic tables.

Assume the position for 10 Incline Merkins, turn it around and sit down for 10 Dips, also in cadence….and we mosied over to the parking lot for one round of 50%, 75%, 100% Sprint.

COT

COT:

Seles took us out.

Bean talked about the Iron Pax challenge.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

On a serious note, I have very vivid recollections of 5 and 6 man Saturdays, and 5-7 (or even fewer) Tuesdays and Thursdays. This is quite a little AO that we have built up. Sure it has taken us longer, but we have a great roster of gents.

We have 60 strong in our group, and while some have not been in some time and are never to return, we still remember them and will welcome all back with no questions asked, anytime.

If its 13 or 14 or more now, who knows were we will grow next.
