Preamble:
A while back YHC decided to try and round up the Gladiator men to come for a Rubicon takeover. Spandex agreed to shut down Gladiator for the day and 13 men made the trip over. The crowd was already looking strong as 5 PAX returned from the pre-run, and by 0530, we hit 22 PAX.
Warm-O-Rama:
Lap around the parking lot with some shuffling in each direction. The rain really started to pick up around now! Mosey to the pool parking lot for:
- 20x SSH
- 15x Weedpickers
- 15x Toy Soldiers
- 15x Rocky Balboas
The Thang:
YHC informed the PAX that we would be moseying and stopping periodically for burpees. Being a bit unfamiliar with the territory, as well as directionally challenged, I asked Miller Time to help me navigate a mile, but something got lost in translation (lesson learned)…so, off we went in the pouring rain. Stops approximately every .1 miles for 10 burpees and for the Q to check directions. Total of 100 burpees over 1 mile, thanks Saint2o for the inspiration. Lots of mumblechatter as we traversed several downhills and a muddy field and crossed a flooded path. Some of the PAX seemed unsatisfied by the lack of creativity, but I hope their bodies are thankful for the 100 burpees now. The rain lightened up by the end. We managed to make it to the Field of Dreams at almost exactly 1 mile where the gazelles did extra burpees for the 6 before getting their last set of 10 in. We hit a quick Jacob’s Ladder up and down the hill with Monkey Humpers. 1 at the top, 2 at the bottom, 3 at top, so on up to 7.
Plank for the 6, then some extra fun. PAX continued to hold the plank while raising each arm (separately), followed by 15x Mountain Climbers. Rinse and repeat. While holding the plank, YHC kept thinking there was some other exercise that could be done from a plank position, but blanked out on what it was (Mercan. The answer is the Mercan). I also must have blanked out when looking at my watch because I called for an early mosey back to the flag, leading to quite a long round of Mary.
Kicked it off with Gas Pumpers (not to be confused with the Crunchy Frog), then had a mix of Dying Cockroach, Flutter Kicks, LBCs, Buzzsaws, Diamond Mercans, J-Los, Mountain Climbers, T-Bombs…there might have been more.

Naked-Man Moleskin:
Thankful for support from the PAX even through directional confusion. Great to mix things up and introduce some Gladiator men to another AO and the great PAX of the Rubicon. Issuing the challenge for Rubicon to return the favor at the Gladiator sooner rather than later.
I’ll give MT the final word: “It wasn’t about the rain. It’s what the rain represents. A challenge in our daily lives and how you will respond.”- D. Goggins
