You never know who to expect at Hoppy-Like. And at the beginning of a long holiday weekend it was looking like it might be just YHC planting the flag and doing his own thing when LawDog came pulling in right at 0530. All thoughts of going back to the fart sack vanished as I left the warmth of the truck for the balmy 49 degree misty morning on Milton Ave.
I had planned to run the VZ-North point-Haynes Bridge loop which is a Hoppy-Like tried and true but in reverse. This seemed like a good idea.
We crossed Main Street to a right on Haynes Bridge which was eerily quiet on this schools out last work day before Christmas. We ran down across GA400 and right into North Point Mall. We beat the holiday rush. Lots of great parking spaces available. ran around the back of the mall and exited onto Encore Parkway and turned right across the new bridge over GA400 and the long steep climb up to the top of VZ hill. We crested the top at the amphitheater and went down to a left on Maxwell Road and straight on up the second big climb by the bus barn to the top of Comcast hill and on back past the children of the corn to Milton Ave. 5.8 miles in 50 minutes.
Nice run with LawDog this morning and a great start to the holiday weekend. Merry Christmas to all.
