Deck of Death Circuit

Preamble:

3 PAX showed for YHC’s first back-to-back double header (Q’s last Thursday as well).  The forecast was for rain.  Of course, there was none.  Temp was in the 50s and Pax were ready for adventure.

The Thang:

Started with the Deck of Death under the rain pavilion.  Each Pax pulled a card and we proceeded following the recommended counts:

• # Cards = # on Card + 10 reps
• Face Cards = 25 reps
• Ace = 100 reps
• Joker = Dealer’s Choice

After each Pax had pulled 1 card and completed the reps, group each grabbed a 30 lb. girlfriend from Ha-ha’s truck and mosied over to the picnic area where YHC had setup a 6 station circuit with these stations:

• Step Ups
• Jump Rope
• Leg Presses of the Picnic Table (weighed down by the girlfriends + 2 Go Rucks)
• Coupon Curls (medicine ball)
• Merkins
• Medicine Ball Burpees + Slam

Circuit

• 1 minute on
• 35 second transition
• 2x per Pax each station

After a round of the circuit we mosied back to the rain pavilion and each Pax pulled another card to continue the BD.  After each card was completed we mosied back to picnic area for another circuit.  Following the 2^nd circuit, Pax gathered all rucks, medicine balls, girlfriends, and other gear then slow mosied to start point.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

YHC tried to be sneaky by just setting out a Deck of Death under the rain pavilion since this was a last minute Q.  Ha-ha wouldn’t fall for it.  First, he noticed the headlamp I was wearing and second, he probably saw a faint glow of the chem lights I setup at the circuit stations.

Was originally planning to do this as 2 separate Q’s, but at zero dark thirty this morning, YHC said, “What the heck!  Let’s combine ‘em.”

Seemed to work out well.  Pax are accustomed to doing straight circuits or straight Decks of Death.  Was a slight break from just doing one or the other.  Since we thought it was going to rain, did not plan for running.  Was hoping the jump rope would help get the HRs up.  Only problem with that is that we are a bunch of uncoordinated HIMs and it was dark.  So, no Rocky jump rope episodes today.

On the Deck of Death, YHC needs to study the Exicon more in advance.  Fortunately Nantan was able to demonstrate both the Smurf Jacks and the Bulgarian Split Squats.

On the Circuit, could have increased the high-intensity time to 1:30 or 2:00 mins.  Or, should have reduced the transition time to maybe 20-25 seconds.
