Debtors Prison

AO: Norseman

When: 2025-01-14

QIC: Chapter 11

PAX (8): Callahan, Cam's, Chapter 11, Knight Rider, Matlock, Password 123, TP, Tumbleweed

Preamble:

Bday Q for YHC (Chapter 11) so it was time to bust out the Alpha Bucks again! Maybe the PAX can demonstrate some better money management skills this time. It's been at least 3-4 Q's now where I've had some very nice weather for a Chapter 11 beat down, so something is off. But it was a very pleasant morning to be chased down by our debtors.

Warm-O-Rama:

Head over to the parking lot, mosyed and shuffled around the lot, then warmed up with:
  • SSH
  • Weed pickers
  • Toy Soldiers
  • Hillbilly's
  • Arm Circles
Then headed down to the quarry to pick up some coupons.

The Thang:

With our coupons, we headed out on to the football field. The PAX were each given a different envelope with varying amounts of alpha bucks in them. Life lesson number 1: Life isn't fair and some people start with more money than others. The name of the game was debt collector. PAX were given 2 minutes to perform AMRAP of an exercise. After the exercise, PAX lined up and 1 PAX was assigned the "Debt Collector." All PAX would run 200 yard down the football field and back. Anyone who crossed the goal line (aka starting line) after the debt collector had to pay up. Anyone who couldn't pay was sent to Debtor's Prison. The 2 minute exercises were:
  1. SSH
  2. Merkins
  3. Coupon Squats
  4. Curls
  5. Thrusters
Once that was all complete and the PAX were sufficiently gassed, we moved on to 11's. Only the poor PAX who were sent to debtor's prison were subjected to hard labor - TP and Callahan were required to perform the 11 with their coupons. Merkins at the field, burpees/man makers at the top of the parking lot. PAX were encouraged to help their fellow PAX with their burdens if needed. Life Lesson #2 - Look around and see if others are carrying a burden that you can help with. Unfortunately neither the lender nor the clock shows any mercy, so we ran out of time before our 11's were finished. Back to the flag for some quick Mary as time allowed.

COT:

Prayers for Ha-ha as he is DR visiting his father Also for Delorean who finds himself responsible for a 2.0 middle school field trip. Looks like Ha-Ha is gathering interest for Smokey Mountain Relay for this spring. Check out slack for more info and if you want to follow Matlock's lead by "officially entering the interest portal"

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Taking the Q always pushes me a little out of my comfort zone, but in a good way. It's always an honor to lead and I am grateful for the PAX who are encouraging and willing to follow. I mentioned it this morning, but I would encourage us all to take advantage of the COT and let guys know what burden you're carrying. It's easy to help a brother in need when they're carrying a rock up a hill and clearly struggling. But most of the time, the burdens we carry aren't so easy to spot. So keep an eye out for one another, and have the courage to speak up at COT when you're struggling!
