PAX (9): Buckshot, goat, Rusty, Spider, Sprocket, Sweep3r, Tank, The_OG Zima, The_Real Chubbs
Preamble:
The usual disclaimer. PAX assume all risk and liability. Let's go.Warm-O-Rama:
The PAX were in for a warm-up treat as we jogged around the soccer field and finished setting out the 4 remaining lights. There was plenty of grumbling mostly because they like to grumble. Once our warm-up run was finished, we met in the middle of field (once Buckshot measured with his handy tape measure to confirm we were indeed in the center of the field. We performed a group hip stretch. Many PAX were confused by the lack of needing to call out an IC stretch by YHC felt no need to call out In Cadence, Exercise as we were stretching and alternating legs. Most who grumbled probably need to stretch more (their bodies not their mouths). Just saying. :)The Thang:
Thunder burpee X.
The exercises are as follows (in the shape of an X on the soccer field. One light at each corner and one centerfield (open for debate, but the official ruling measurement is expected from Buckshot). One end of the field, closest to soccer field was the 25 count exercises, center and far end of field 20 count exercises (and were alternating leg exercises).
-
Leg 1 - 25 air squat
-
Center X - 20 Peter Parker (beta) [Note: that YHC started off with a mercan peter parker just in an effort to intimidate the PAX (they were not) and YHC got back in line with the published center field exercise]
-
Leg 2 - 25 jump squats
-
Center X - 20 Peter Parker (beta)
-
Leg 3 - 20 single leg lunge (beta) [for PAX like Rusty you should alternate legs to balance your workout]
-
Center X - 20 Peter Parker (beta)
-
Leg 4 - 20 side leg lunge (beta)
-
Center X - 20 Peter Parker (beta)
The twist: Whenever ANY version of Thunderstruck plays SSH until you hear THUNDER, at which point a burpee is due. Continue for the duration of the song. At conclusion resume exercise.
Some PAX got confused as the first song played was TNT BY Thunderstruck, which had NO thunder in the song, only in the band name, but thanks for playing.
It turns out the first version of Thunderstruck came on in the wettest part of the soccer field; this gave the PAX more to gripe about (man the complaint department is going to be busy responding to the complaints). Some PAX remembered that you can modify as necessary; they moved to higher dryer ground and continued their burpee debt due with each thunder.
A curve ball was thrown when an instrumental banjo version of thunderstruck came on. Yes, burpees are owed whenever the banjo notes called played out thunder.
We made it through two variations of thunderstruck.
There are approximately 34-36 thunders in each song.
The SSH was just a side benefit to keep the PAX warm (and distracted).
And time.
Back to the flag.
