Black Diamond – Windjammer Crossover
AO: Black Diamond
When: 2024-12-04
QIC: Stroller
PAX (4): Cookie, Deep dish, Feathers, Stroller
Preamble:
With Thanksgiving festivities, Black Diamond was dormant last week. With the channel radio silent on Sunday, YHC put out the call to Feathers to see if anything was in the works. He mentioned going to the Windjammer on Wednesday, and also asked if I wanted to Q. Indeed I did. Hit up Townie, who had the Windjammer Q, and he suggested we do something "fun." Which I guess meant he didn't want to come up with a Q. Anyway, thanks to Tank I had just the idea for a good team competition to keep us moving on a cold morning.Warm-O-Rama:
Light warmup...first, jog Feathers' cinder over to the designated spot for later in the BD. Then, head out of the pool property onto Lake Windward Drive. Stop at the exit for 10 mercans, 10 squats. Mosey to the dam, same thing but add 10 dips. Continue our mosey over to the boat launch for a Captain America. 1:4 Burpees to ski jumps. From 1:4 all the way to 10:40. Quick set of 10 flutters, 15 big bois, 20 reverse LBCs. Mosey back to the tennis lot where we had dropped the cinder earlier. The Thang:
As mentioned, this was taken from a Tank Q at Rubicon a few weeks back. 2 teams- WJ and Black Diamond. 6 cones spaced kind of evenly. A sheet of paper at each cone with two exercises written on it, although only one is right-side up in the direction of travel (this would become important immediately). Each team will bear crawl to a cone and complete the exercise and designated number of reps. 5 HR mercan buy-in at each cone. Meanwhile, one PAX per team is carrying a cinder to the far cone and back and swapping out with a teammate and picking up his count. Move to the next cone once everyone has completed his exercises. One final twist- the first team to reach each cone adds 10 reps to the written count. Got it? Kinda.... Team Black Diamond held a slight edge, probably due to confusion caused by the Q. You do what you can. We've got a bit of time left- switch up the teams by counting off 1s and 2s. This time, we will run between cones, no buy-in, and subtract 10 from the written rep count. We mostly stayed together and discussed which of the 8 overtimes was our favorite (mine? the one where UGA won). Get back to the flag with just enough time for a quick set of box-cutters.COT:
