AO: Windjammer

When: 2024-08-02

QIC: Townie

PAX (24): Cookie, Cox, Dipstick, HotSauce, IKEA, Nair, Papercut, Sparkie, Stu, Townie, uga, Walkie Talkie, Diva (needs to get on Slack), FNG Finkel (Welcome!), Picasso, Mermaid, Muffin, I don't Remember, Magnolia, Sonic, Donut, Messi,

Preamble:

Our AO Founder @cookie suggested we run a 2.0 friendly beatdown before the 'Jammer moves back to 0530 start time and YHC obliged.  The night before we only have 8 HC's and 5 Commits from 2.0s to join us but in typical Windjammer fashion, the results far exceeded the projections.  Bunch of Sandbaggers!

Warm-O-Rama:

We had some arrivals coming in at the last minute with many 2.0s in tow so we had some disclaimers, welcome messages and spirited discussion right at 600am until we moseyed to the top of the parking lot for some SSH, WPs, IWs, Arm Circles and Michael Phelps.  We completed our full lap of the parking lot to buy YHC some time to figure out how to adjust the beatdown to accommodate ~2x the # of HC's I had planned for. Honorable mention to Sparkie and YHC for getting some hill runs in early to prepare for the pending earlier start time next week.

The Thang:

Plan for 13, get 24.  I should have known better. A little PAX v KIDS competition was in order.  Complete the reps assigned to each category and see which group finishes first.  DADs had roughly 2x the number to complete than kids. 10 * Mike Tysons Run a Full Lap 10 * Big Boys 15 * Squats 20 * Flutter Kicks 15 * Dips 5 * Burpees Once you completed a set, you erase a dot from the board.  The Kids beat the dads by about 5 sets, well done to our 2.0s! Seeing as we thought this would take much longer, YHC was about to double up our efforts but Cookie came to the rescue with an innovative idea that took us moseying diagonally across the dam hill and to the sports park.  It's OK b/c I wasn't wet or slippery at all! We then formed 2 teams and ran a relay race including tunnel crawls, bear crawls, and a LOT of time planking.  What sounded easy turned out to be quite the opposite. We completed, ran up the dam hill as a unit and crossed the street for some mary including LBC's, Merkins, something else and then a slow mosey back to the flag.  Walkie wrapped us up with some boxcutters & Taylor Swift music until we hit TIME.

COT:

The usual.  Welcome Jason Burton aka Finkel due to his Dolphins fandom. Shout-out to 9 2.0s who came out, worked out, got dirty, and had some fun. Thanks Walkie Talkie for the donuts & gatorade.  Friday was the warmest & most humid morning we've had all summer.  Like working out in a bowl of cloudy miso soup.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Leading a group of men who are mostly organized, listen, and know how to exercise is one thing.  Leading a group of kids who are there to have fun, goof around with each other, and laugh at their dads for being old is an entirely different story.  That said, hearing "nice job" from my own 2.0 and some compliments from other kids truly made my day.  I'd like to have more 2.0 friendlies over Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring Breaks in the future.  Thanks to all, honored to lead!
