Preamble:

The pre-blast promised a simple but tough beatdown which was enough to lure 15 guys out of their warm beds.

Warm-O-Rama:

Mosey around a bit then ended up on the pitch for:
  • Copperhead squats
  • Hillbillies
  • SSH
  • Michael Phelps
  • Monkey arms
  • world's greatest stretch
YHC explained the thang while stretching.

The Thang:

Mosey to the end line where we were reminded that establishing a new habit can take 20+ days/cycles to stick. YHC explained we would be running across the field, stopping at midfield for a 'speed bump' exercise then performing 10 merkins on the far end line and returning to the start line, and performing squats for the six. The first 5 runs back and forth were OYO. We then partnered up and performed the same cadence but partners were to stay together and help each other finish the merkins. This continued for 5 more runs. At some point, pax were given the option of stopping the run at midfield and doing the merkins or running the entire length of the field and skipping the merkins. On the final two runs (19/20) pax were told to NOT wait for the six and to finish up with 20 diamonds each. YHC tried to insert some life lessons along the way including:
  • If we try to establish a good habit it takes time
  • If we go it alone, we will likely make excuses and not finish
  • If we have a brother alongside us, challenges somehow become less challenging

COT:

Praise for Dreamer's latest 2.0 (Ivy Ren) being born last night. Mom and baby are doing well. Praise for Spandex getting a job offer! Request for guys to show up to cook and/or workout with NLB guys on Saturday, 1/13. Prayers lifted up for unspoken requests.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

I know this can become kind of predictable, but a new year provides an opportunity for a reset. If you have set one or more goals for the new year I challenge you to tell one or more others (F3 brothers are best IMO) so they can encourage you and help hold you accountable. A resolution rarely becomes a new habit without hard work AND someone else cheering you on. You guys know what to do. -- Speedo out
