Snuggle up with Cinders

AO: Boneyard

When: 2023-11-17

QIC: FannyPack

PAX (17): Boomer, Darkside, FannyPack, Feathers, Floater, Half-Dozen, Mater, Mounty, Pigtails, Shrimp, Speedo, Stifler (Jeff Levy), Trebek, Zohan, Brownie, FNG Big Bang, FNG TARDIS

Preamble:

Great numbers at the Boneyard this morning with two FNG's (Big Bang & TARDIS) and a recent FNG (Shrimp) coming back for more.  YHC gave a thorough but geographically inaccurate disclaimer.

Warm-O-Rama:

Left the Cinders at the cars while we started with a mosey around the parking lot with some high-knees, butt kickers, and karaoke.  We then circled up for SSH, weedpickers, windmills, hillbillies, arm circles, COVIDs, and monkey arms.

The Thang:

Picked up the cinders and explained the rules: Once we pick up our coupons, you have to keep holding it until the end.  If you need a break, that's ok- but before you're able to put it down, loudly announce “I Love the Gloom” & tell us what you like about F3 (or anything else you are grateful for) while the rest of us do 5 burpees.  Headed to the big field. Stalled for a minute or so while fumbled with technology, the PAX held high plank with some right side/left side up. Dora #1
  • 50 x Skull Crushers
  • 100 x Curls
  • 150 x Normal Presses
Feathers complained about the music and YHC advised on how to adjust the playlist.  We all were feeling cozy with our bricks, but Floater bravely confessed his intentions for his cinder tonight. Bataan Death March
  • Two lines, slow Mosey with coupon
  • Last PAX drops coupon, does 5 burpees, then picks up coupon & runs to the front
This was a slog but kudos to all for pressing through.  At least 1 person complained once. Dora #2
  • 50 x Squats
  • 100 x Step-ups, AC
  • 150 x Lunges, SC
We were about to start a round of Black Snake when Darkside pointed out to me that we had reached our time limit. Surprisingly, Feathers changed his mind about the music on the way back to the flag- Turns out he now really likes indie-synth-pop and is swearing off classic rock forever.  No one ever called out "I love the Gloom", so I guess I should take the intensity up a notch next time.

COT:

Glad to welcome Big Bang (physicist for HP) and TARDIS (developer who loves the history of tech). Prayers for Speedo's aging parents and associated health challenges, prayers for Zohan's son as he prepares for an upcoming competition.  Reminders about Beer Ruck/Chili cookoff on Sunday & Santa Ruck.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Thanks to Darkside for inspiration on not putting the coupons down.  His Q last week featuring extended farmer carries got me thinking about grip strength, which is also a topic in the book I'm reading (Outlive).  Thanks for playing along this morning, it's fun for me to lead with something new & I'm thankful for you guys being willing to play along.
