Preamble:

13 men joined me to help celebrate another year of gaining a little more respect.  We took a trip in the way-back machine with a playlist featuring songs that came out during my junior and senior year of high school (1987-1988).  Just for fun every PAX was asked to bring along a cinder.

Warm-O-Rama:

We started with a short mosey to the side parking lot.

  • Side Straddle Hops
  • Imperial Walkers
  • Weed Picker
  • Arm Circles

The Thang:

Overhead Press

PAX all partnered up for a little variation of suicides.  Each of the nine songs on the playlist matched up with a different exercise.  The partners traded off running suicides and doing the exercise until the completion of each song.  Partners took turns running suicides to each median in the parking lot while the other did amrap of the exercise.  To add a little extra fun at each median PAX needed to do 5 burpees at the first median then 2 burpees at the next, 5 at the next 2 at the next and so on until completing an entire circuit.  After one circuit was complete the 5-2-5-2-5-2 patterns was repeated, but with merkins.  Each circuit flipped between burpees and merkins.  The AMRAP exercises and songs were as follows:

Merkins – Smooth Criminal – Michael Jackson

Curls – Paul Revere – Beastie Boys

V-Ups – Never Gonna Give You Up – Rick Astley

Thrusters – Still of the Night – Whitesnake

Squats – I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight – Cutting Crew

Skull Crushers – Get Outta My Dream, Get Into My Car – Billy Ocean

Big Boys – Wishing Well – Terrance Trent D’Arby

Bent Over Rows – What’s On Your Mind (Pure Energy) – Information Society
