I Love a Parade

Preamble:

There was some sort of fake threat of black ice last night. I’m still trying to figure out how we have to worry about black ice when it has been in the 40s for nearly a week and the temp is 33? Water freezes at 32 last I checked and the ground is certainly not colder than the air.

Ah well, 6 PAX made it to the virtual flag location by 5:30 and we had Honey Glazed so minimal chance of leaving someone wondering were we are because we are going to the far southern reaches of the AO.

Warm-O-Rama:

We mosied over to SFHS to the lower lot for:

• SSH
• Weed Pickers
• Imperial Walkers

Then we made the climb up the hill to the softball fields and continued to the back of the football fields.

The Thang:

It is Mardi Gras today so we had our own parade. 6 PAX so partnered and picked out 3 of the ugliest cousins of the girlfriends you have ever seen! They have been neglected since football season and with all the rain were FULL of water. Yup, we had the tractor tires. We rolled them down to the parking lot to the top of the hill behind the softball field. The Milton police that was parked by the softball field seemed uninterested in us and left.

As YHC was rolling to the top of the hill my ugly cousin started picking up speed heading towards the woods. I gave him a swift wack to knock it over and it wobbled, straightened up, hopped the curb and a 5 foot tall 300+ lb tire disappeared down the embankment.

Good news: it hit a pine tree and stopped.

Bad news: 300 lbs of rubber was now at the bottom of a 8 foot near vertical hill.

A plan was formed and YHC and Legos rolled the cousin downhill where the road and terrain achieve much less of an incline and only about 3-4 feet of elevation difference. From there we were able to roll the cousin back up onto the road and back to the top of the hill.

Back at our regularly scheduled beat down… The parade was to continue down the hill with partner one flipping a cousin while the other partner ran to the bottom and back up and then flapjack. At this point the weight disparity in the cousins started to show! One set of partners made some real distance down the hill while those with larger cousins were a bit further back. Half way down we reversed directions and now the smaller cousin had some catching up to do. At the top of the hill we parked the cousins and a quick round of 4 corners with escalating merkin varieties:

• corner 1 10 merkins
• corner 2 10 merkins and 10 wide merkins
• corner 3 10 merkins, 10 wide and 10 offset
• corner 4 10 merkins, 10 wide, 10 offset one direction, 10 offset the other direction

Back to the cousins and we rolled them back to their parking spots.

Return mosey back in front of SFHS and back to the flag.

It is always a pleasure to be with these men at the Norseman.

As this morning showed us, always be prepared for the unexpected. You never know when your tire may roll down a hill into the abyss and you have to figure out how to recover it.
