Derkins and Dips for Breakfast
AO: The Hooch
When: 02/08/2021
QIC: Speedo
PAX (15): Feathers, Wing Nut, Birdie (R), Maguire (R), Ball Boy, Scrooge, Boomer, Splinter (R), Zohan, Duggar, Sunshine, Saint2O, Doughboy, Dinghy (R)
Preamble:
Wasn’t sure how many PAX would show up on a cold morning after the Super Bowl but wasn’t surprised to see 14 other Hooch Pax join me (incl. 2 pre-runners). With a brief but thorough disclaimer, we began to smack Monday in the face.
Warm-O-Rama:
Mosey around the parking lot with some sideways shuffles and butt kickers mixed in. Ended up elsewhere in the parking lot and circled up for:
- SSH x15
- Weed Pickers x15
- Hillbillies x15
The Thang:
Several thangs on the menu this morning:
Mosey toward the movie theater and instructed PAX to bear crawl the length of two parking islands. We then moseyed to the parking lot next to whatever is in the Hurricanes space. YHC told the group that I am turning 55 this week but I’m not some sort of masochist who would ask for a 55 burpee buy-in (seems to be a Hooch thing). Instead, we partnered up and instructed P1 to do 10 burpees while P2 held a low air chair then flapjack. Rinse and repeat for a total of 30 burpees per PAX.
Mosey back to the movie theater and each PAX grabbed a chair from the ice cream shop. We rode the derkin/dips escalator starting with 5 of each then 10, 15, 20. Lots of grunts and groans especially as we reached the top. But of course, we had to come back down so we did some more starting at 15 then 10, then 5. Triceps were burning and of course, derkins are always such a pleasure.
Mosey to the parking lot behind the Japanese restaurant (or is it now a Korean BBQ?). Partnered up with P1 doing 20 crunchy frogs while P2 did balls to the wall. Rinse and repeat for a total of three times. My partner Boomer (who IS a masochist) was kind enough to do his last few crunchy frogs nice and slow as my arms started shaking.
Mosey to another parking lot and partnered up. P1 did 30 merkins while P2 did V-ups. Rinse and repeat for a total of three times.
Mosey toward the Brazilian Waxing and Sugaring place (what is sugaring??) where we once again partnered up. P1 did 40 flutter kicks alpha while P2 polished the windows of the shops with a wall sit. We only had time to repeat this once.
Mosey back toward the flag but not quite there where we partnered up one last time. P1 did 50 squats while P2 held a low or high plank. Repeat once. YHC then asked the PAX to be test subjects. I handed out two paper plates per person and we attempted to bear crawl with the plates on our feet. We then moved the plates to our hands and tried that for a few feet. Swapped to crab walk with plates on feet and finally switched to hands. The experiment didn’t work too well on asphalt but it was fun to hear the complaining if nothing else.
Back to the flag where Feathers led the PAX in a protracted (pun intended) set of flutter kicks and various leg raise holds. The Tech guys seemed to do much better than the others on the more challenging positions (65 degrees??). Zohan took us out with some gas pumpers.
COT:
Prayers for Karen who passed away from covid this weekend and for Maguire and family as they care for the family’s children while they travel back to South Africa. Prayers for Tanzania as covid is beginning to surge there. Praise for YHC’s sister Laura who is recovering from a burst appendix.
Keep getting those ClimbKili miles in and log them. Looks like the Hooch team is crushing everyone else so far.
Congrats to Feathers for his 3-year F3 anniversary!!
Naked-Man Moleskin:
Thanks for posting and letting me lead. You guys are awesome and it was a pleasure to work out with you all this morning.
