This is Sparta…kinda
AO: Big Creek
When: 07/25/2019
QIC: Inseam
PAX (4): Spit Valve, Swiper, Sculley, and Inseam
Preamble:
YHC took over Q late in the fourth quarter Wednesday night. Maybe in my haste I lost my mind, because YHC never thought he’d see the day he would willingly Q a track beatdown. Nevertheless, the day came, and it just so happened to be in this perfect 65 degree Thursday Gloom!
FNG!?!? Nah, just Swiper in his wife’s car…had it been anyone else disappointment would have followed for YHC 😉
Warm-O-Rama:
Nice mosey to the track where we squared up outside the entrance for the following:
- 12 SSH IC
- 11 Weed Pickers IC
- 10 Toy Soldiers IC
- 10 Butt-Kicks (in place) IC
The Thang:
First on today’s menu: Modified Spartans. Rather than walking back after each sprint, we will perform an exercise. Additionally, we will complete these in proper ladder fashion rather than doing multiple 100 yard sprints. It went a little something like this:
- 1 Spartan (sprint 100 yards, 10 merkins) -10 SSH
- 2 Spartans (sprint 200 yards, 20 merkins) -20 Sideplank Dips
- 3 Spartans (sprint 200 yards, 20 merkins, sprint 100 yards, 10 merkins) -30 Squats
- 4 Spartans (sprint 200 yards, 20 merkins, sprint 200 yards, 20 merkins) -40 LBCs
- 3 Spartans (sprint 200 yards, 20 merkins, sprint 100 yards, 10 merkins) -30 Squats
- 2 Spartans (sprint 200 yards, 20 merkins) -20 Sideplank Dips
- 1 Spartan (sprint 100 yards, 10 merkins) -10 SSH
After a quick walking 10 count, we slow moseyed back towards the flag, stopping at the top of the track parking lot for some quick curb inspections (10 toe taps on curb Alpha count, 10 curb dips, lungewalk to other side, reduce reps by 2 and repeat until 0). Once inspections were complete, we moseyed the long way to the Pain Ground for 4 rounds of the following circuit; one man at each station, move until Pax on bench reaches 30 Incline Merkins.
- 30 Incline Merkins
- Step ups
- Swing Jump-Throughs
- Pull-ups
Finally, we did a quick footwork drill to relive our high school football glory days; side to side shuffle through swings and sprint to flag.
COT:
Prayers for the safety of a PAX’s travelling 2.1. Praise for this awesome weather, round two!
Naked-Man Moleskin:
As mentioned above, YHC never thought he’d see the day he would willingly lead a track BD. I just wanted to say thank you guys for pushing me to be better every morning!
Three takeaways from this morning: 1) YHC’s sprint (after about 40 yards) is Sculley’s slow mosey into work on a Monday morning after a four day weekend. 2) Swiper is an absolute beast. Sobering up after a two week vacation in Europe and hitting the gloom as hard as he has this week is more than impressive. 3) Is there a point at which Spit Valve gets winded on a track, or could he just run laps in perpetuity?
