Working on the Hilltop

AO: Badapple

When: 08/14/2023

QIC: Thud

PAX (9): Dfib, Dosido, Spider, Sprocket, Tank, The Real Woody, Thud, Thumper, Broomstick

Warm-O-Rama:

Warmed up the shoulders and legs in cadence.  In case you haven’t had the pleasure of a Thud Q I call a kick ass cadence with the grit of Lee Ermey and smack-your-face rhythm of John Bonham. This is undisputed fact. Also my taste in music is exceptional (but anyway where were again? Ah yeah warmup…) Side straddle hops, copperhead squats, weed-pickers, hillbillies and toy soldiers.

Then our warm up took a dark turn when YHC got ballsy and had PAX do Michael Phelps and Sun Gods OYO. Eyes darted around the warm up circle, uneasy looks and low murmurs were exchanged like the sailors in Crimson Tide as something mutinous hits a low-boil. Is this Q the Gene Hackman or the Denzel on this submarine? They’re all thinking it as they thwump arms back and forth like an Olympic swimmer and then extend and circle arms (small circles first then bigger) without the benefit of my beautiful, commanding voice.

MOSEY! I shout before a mutiny could set in and I run the PAX into the darkness and up to the hilltop overlooking our proud AO.

The Thang:

PAX are awake now, I circle them up and lay down the instructions.

Partner up.

Group A will run 30 m to baseball bleachers and do step ups until relieved by their buddy.

Group B will start on the hillside, complete 25 clock mercans then run 30 m to baseball bleachers.

Switch-a-roo Group A runs to hill and does mercans while B does step-ups.

Same idea but we do a round with 50 squats on the hill and step ups on the bleachers.

I’ve got Rush, Led Zeppelin and the Cult blasting in the 90% humidity and everyone is putting in good work.

Ircans on the bleachers while buddy runs around the outside of the baseball field.

Repeato 2x

Back to the hill and this time altogether we do 25 clock Mercans and 50 squats.

Mosey back to the flag. LBCs and WW1’s then a Jack Webb.

COT:

Prayers for Thrasher and Goose, safe travels for Sprocket and time that he’ll be with his father. Prayers for Pennie.
