Fire, Bricks and Blocks

Preamble:

Rarely has a looming Q caused as much consternation as one with forecasted temps below the 20 degree mark. Serious thought was given to just smartsacking this one but that would just give some the satisfaction they crave. I’d rather deliver a lump of coal.

Cinders – check, playlist – check, firepit? Why not?

Warm-O-Rama:

0530 we bear crawled up to the first parking lot for some SSH, Weed Pickers, Imperial Walkers, Windmills and some arm circles. Instruction was given around the holiday playlist – any obscenity = burpee. A request was made to find higher ground for greater wind impact which was happily obliged. Off we crab walked up the hill.

When we arrived, what had been a nice toasty fire at 0510 was now just a smoldering  smokestack. Attempts were made to relight as we enjoyed some Christmas classics. It’s almost as if some PAX had never listened to Rage Against the Machine. Burpees were enjoyed by all.

The Thang:

In teams of three we got started. PAX 1 remained at the firepit to stay warm while repeating the following cinder exercises:

• 10 curls
• 10 rows
• 10 overhead press
• 10 squats

PAX 2/3 bear crawled to the cones and each completed:

• 10 Do Dos
• 10 Merkins
• 10 Big Boys

Crab Walk back to rotate out the cinder work and kept this up for a while.

With a little time left we circled up around the pit for some Captain Thors. Almost made it through before time ran out.

Some lunge walking back to the flag.
