Bossiversary

Preamble:

Approximately one year ago I started at the Windjammer looking to get some additional work during the week and loved the 6 am start time (plus the promise of cool towels and mimosas). Despite the, ahem, switch, still a great group of brothers and have enjoyed being there. No trivia this week, but a nice selection from the Boss to help motivate the group.

Warm-O-Rama:

Mosey to the water for SSHs, copperhead squats, weed pickers and some arm circles. Also, as a return favor, entrusted False Start with the power to call for a burpee at his leisure. (Thankfully, the power was not abused…too much.)

The Thang:

Headed to the sports park and grabbed a coupon and a partner for a Dora. Teams had to complete 100 Wonderbras, 200 squats and 300 curls – one Pax taking a lap around the track, one doing the exercise.

After everyone was done, moved on to some core work – 10 American hammers, 20 Gas Pumpers and 30 LBCs – and holding six inches for the six. Then worked our way back down the ladder.

No beatdown at Windjammer would be complete without a sprint (or two) up the hill with a few Merkins at the top.

Completed the workout with a couple minutes of Mary at the flag, all with the glorious sound of Springsteen and the E Street band for extra inspiration.

COT:

Prayers for everyone facing health challenges and obstacles – Heisenberg, Jeanette (Funyun’s friend), Adriane (friend of Cox and NRA) and everyone else dealing with difficult circumstances.

Strong support for Ready Mix at the Hooch on Monday. More than 100 PAX participated to honor him and lift-up the group after the tragedy.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

It’s sometimes easy to lose a little faith in humanity with awful news coming from different corners of the world. However, the power of community has helped restore some of that faith, seeing the commitment and support that has been displayed in the face of tragedy. The outpouring of support for Ready Mix and from my high school class for a friend that died unexpectedly truly demonstrated that power of community and by being involved with something greater than ourselves, we have the chance to strengthen the world around us and add some positivity to  difficult or tragic situations.
