National OK Day!
AO: Firehouse
When: 03/23/2021
QIC: Buckeye
PAX (8): Script Kiddie, Ace Ventura, Java Dog, Buckeye, Suarez, Schneider, Hushpuppy, Dunshire
Preamble:
Today, March 23rd is National OK Day. The word OK is believed to have been used first in the 1830s, and one author said “OK” may be the most important American word.
Examples of when to use OK in a sentence include:
“OK Buckeye, did you actually think through this workout?”
“Are you OK man, it sounds like you’re giving birth over there?”
“OK, I can’t feel my arms!”
“OK, who came up with this idea?”
So we had an “OK” workout, where the word was used multiple times, including the examples above. We checked in with each other to see if everyone is still OK throughout the beatdown.
Warm-O-Rama:
5:30 hit, so it was time to mosey to the spot. Warm ups included:
- SSH x15
- Weed Pickers x15
- Hillbillys x15
The Thang:
Today was an upper body beatdown! We exercised for 45 seconds, took a 15 second rest, then back to work for 3 sets of each exercise. There was a short break in between each exercise.
- Balls to the wall
- Dirty hookup
- Table pull-ups (laying under the table, pull up)
- Side planks switching arms raised to the sky
- Bicep pushups (had as far in reverse as possible with fingers pointing back – to work the biceps more)
- Dips
- Bat wings (these got pretty difficult to keep arms in the air that long)
- Apple turnovers on the grass
Mosey over to grab a coupon for one last exercise.
- Curls with a coupon
At this time, it was difficult to do anything with arms, and it was time for a round of Mary. At the flagpole we ended with:
- American hammers
- Box cutters
- Freddie Mercury
- We were going to hold a leg lift until 6:15, and luckily we were saved by the bell a few seconds in to the last exercise.
COT:
We were glad to have Hushpuppy join us today, and in fact he was the 6th man, so we got to know him a little bit more. He has been with F3 since 2019, he has 2 sons, and his wife is a veterinarian.
We also had a MOC from Java Dog who shared a quote attributed to Albert Einstein, that said “Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value.” He shared how we can have worldly success, but if we don’t have our values, we don’t have anything. Our values are an important part of who we want to become!
Dunshire brought coffee for those who wanted to stick around and continue the 2F. It was good fellowship and discussion about the lives and challenges of individual PAXs, and I think we can agree we are better for participating in F3 at any level.
There was also a post BD ruck from at least Ace Ventura and Script Kiddie, and possibly others.
Naked-Man Moleskin:
Thanks to these men for humoring me with the national holiday workouts and also sharing about their lives! Everyone did a great job pushing themselves today!
