Black Diamond Round 3

AO: Black Diamond

When: 2024-12-16

QIC: Stroller

PAX (6): Darkside, Floater, Irene, Liquor, Speedo, Stroller

Preamble:

Another week, another chance to share the Black Diamond goodness. Boneyard was an easy call as YHC had been eying several spots that would be great for an extended beatdown. The call was put out and the 4 bodies I expected were at the start at 0513...but wait, there's Darkside!

Warm-O-Rama:

Not exactly

The Thang:

Cut behind the ampitheater, take a left at the playground to the bottom of the hill. Modified Red Barchetta as we moseyed toward Park Place and the park exit...stops at arbitrary intervals for 50 SSH, 40 mountain climbers, 30 LBCs, 20 mercans, 10 burpees along the way. We also each grabbed 10 pull-ups at the pull-up bars. At the park exit there was a nice wall perfect for 20 dips and 10 single-leg squats (each leg). We left the park and headed to Senor Patron. A quick routine of YHC's invention called Cinco de MAYO:
  • 5 Mercans
  • 5 Alternating Shoulder Taps
  • 5 Yurpees (hand-release burpee)
  • 5 Overhead Claps
5 rounds, no break in between. This was a great routine and perfect to do in front of Mexican restaurants, sandwich shops, or Jerod Mayo's house.
  • Mosey over to F45. We reminded them we work out for free by completing 3 rounds: 15 monkey humpers, 15 lunges, 15 star jumps, run to the opposite island and back.
  • We were also in front of Duck Donuts, so we did a bear-crawl oriented routine to honor Homer's Donut. Ascending curb crawl, escalating from 1 to 6 Mike Tysons
  • 10-count and off to the middle of the lot for a Jacob's Ladder, which was a riff off of a 2020 Sasquatch beatdown. The far end of the parking lot will be the other side. Jump Squats, 8-ct bodybuilders, American Hammers, Flutters. 5 each, then 10-15-20
  • It was time to cross the street to the Kroger shopping center. We attempted to traverse the parking lot in various fun ways, but there was a bit too much traffic so audibled to a mosey, which someone wisely took to the sidewalk.
  • As luck would have it, there is another gym/donut store combo right around the corner. With traffic increasing, we hid in a safe row of parking spaces and re-did the F45 routine to say hey to the Workout Anytime folks. Time was running low, so we moseyed back into the park. Lucky to retain Speedo as he almost left with a cute girl we saw walking on Old Alabama
  • Outside the dog park we continued the curb crawl, which we did not get to do at Dunkin. We got in rounds 7 and 8 and headed back to the flag with enough time for a round of the dying cockroach. That was it

Naked-Man Moleskin:

It was great to see new folks trying out the Black Diamond. Love the chance to try different ideas and explore our AOs in new ways. Before anyone gets the wrong idea in their head, the cute girl was Speedo's M
