Preamble:
A beautiful Fall morning invited 3 pre-ruckers and at least 2 pre-runners to the park. We finished the ruck to find the parking lot full of ne’er-do-wells and YHC decided a beat down was in order. Disclaimer was given and off we went.
Warm-O-Rama:
Mosey to the top parking lot for:
- SSH x15
- Hillbillies x12
- Windmills x12
- Michael Phelps OYO
The Thang:
YHC intended to head in a different direction after the warm-up but it was still dark and we took a wrong turn but made the best of it. On the stairs from the path down to the road, we did 25 calf raises facing up the stairs and another 25 facing down the stairs.
Continue our mosey to the original destination which was the concession stand between the baseball fields. YHC demonstrated the Chicken Pecker which is essentially shoulder taps but your feet are up against a wall. After 25 of these, the grunts were plentiful so off we went to the silky smooth pavement at the top of the tennis court parking lot.
The PAX circled up on their six for a ring of ab fire. Holding feet 6 inches (or 16 or 26 or…) off the ground each PAX in order did five big bois. With 15 guys this caused a little pain but it was worth it in the end.
Next, we moseyed to the parking lot next to the grass soccer fields. PAX divided up into groups of three for some conveyor belt BLIMP (the S was left off since we only had 5 groups of three). Each group lined up a parking line three lines apart. The front group did 5 burpees, 2nd group 10 lunges (alpha), 3rd group 15 imperial walkers (alpha), 4th group 20 merkins and the 5th group did 25 plank jacks. After the first group finished they ran to the back of the 5th group and started 25 plank jacks. All other groups bear-crawled to the next station and performed the next exercise. Sounds more complicated than it was. We rinsed and repeated, this time with BOMBS since we didn’t need to leave any letters out. After a walking 10-count, we were off to the AO’s namesake.
At the picnic table at the bottom of the hill, someone had conveniently stashed four water jugs with handles on top. Each jug weighed 50 lbs. The PAX divided into two groups. Someone from each group grabbed two jugs and started up the hill while the rest of the PAX did 5 burpees then ran to catch the jug-holders. Then another PAX would grab the jugs and keep running while the other PAX did 5 Big Bois. Rinse and repeat up the hill and then back down the hill making sure each PAX had a turn with the jugs. Jug jokes abounded.
Keeping the same teams we did a few relay races with the jugs. Cox impressed us all by carrying his 2.0 (Wheels) on his back while carrying the jugs too. Good times for sure. Now we had to get the jugs back to the flag so we set off with instructions no PAX could carry them for more than 30 seconds before switching off. After dodging some fast-moving cars everyone arrived safely back to the flag and all jugs were accounted for. We also had all the water containers.
On the pitch for a modified Red Barchetta. Run to the far goal line and perform 50 SSH, back to the first goal line then back to the far goalie box for 40 LBCs, back to first goal line then to mid-field for 30 merkins, back to goal line then to top of closest goalie box for 20 star jumps, then finish up at the goal line with 10 burpees.
Gazelles started some mary in the middle circle where everyone eventually ended up until time was called.
COT:
F3 Fall Convergence is next week at Webb Bridge Park. The start time is 6:30. Check Slack for details.
Prayers and praises were offered up for aging parents, a reminder that everyone around us has a story to tell and to give them grace and space to live their lives. Try to make someone’s day better rather than make your opinion known or your path easier.
Naked-Man Moleskin:
YHC really enjoys the fellowship and laughs shared at the Widowmaker. There is a certain camaraderie built when doing difficult things together. Thanks for posting and for playing along, especially with those jugs. Credit to Spandex from Gladiator for those awful things. I’m sure he’d be willing to lend them out if anyone wants to introduce them to other AOs.
